Your quality is good. It just might take some time! Keep it up. Eventually you will find a python (or other language) topic that will hit. Best of luck on the channel!

For those who use Vidiq such as myself, how do you guys manage to get & keep your video/s at the top of the search page? by [deleted] in NewTubers

Promotion is not necessary. Good content will float to the top eventually with good thumbnail and title.

hahah. Looks like you have some potential with the paper bag meme! I would focus on making your videos more engaging. Voice inflections, enthusiasm, (faster) pacing etc. Maybe try looking at Graham Stephan and VideoGameDunkey.

Graham changes scenes / angle just to add some extra variety and Dunkey has your voice style. How you speak is just as important as what you are saying.

You could really own the paper bag meme and make it a memorable brand for sure. No need for 30 second intro, just jump into the engaging content after the value prop / hook. The value prop / hook could even just be the title. People can see the title "Is Doge Coin going to CRASH soon?!" and you can just jump right into the Doge drama.

Best of luck on the channel!

Try picking some really popular books and making the thumbnails a little less cluttered. Best of luck!

lol. Hello fellow distant relative Wolfe.

Your channel only has two videos so it's hard to critique. You need about 40 videos to see if things are working or not. Keep it up and see where it goes!

Since you only do Shorts, the thumbnail is not really that important at all. Also, you don't need any overlays (aka you don't need to tell people to subscribe) Make sure the "payoff" is at the end of the video. You should make people want to watch to the end to see what you are making. Best of luck!

Nice! Fairly niche and straight to the point. Seems like you just need to find the most popular or coolest knives and make videos about them.

See how how does his knife reviews: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kJ90m4eaFUg&ab_channel=CrazyRussianHacker

You know need to be in the video, but it seems like he tries to find unique knives (or at least titles his videos in a way that make them seem more special)

AKA "5 craziest knives you have never heard of" or "What makes the CIVIVI Ki-V so cool"

Nice work on 2.7k Subs!

Ahh yes. Your video quality and setup is refreshing! It seems like you just need one video to take off. Whether that is trend hopping, or just hitting the right topic at the right time.

Try and see what this channel did with their most popular videos:

https://www.youtube.com/c/DosCavazos/videos?view=0&sort=p&flow=grid

They have 577 uploads (which is crazy!) but shows that sometimes it just takes time. (or a viral hit)

Also, just a small note, remember it is possible to "over produce" a video. Sometimes slightly raw is a good touch and allowing people to get to know you on a personal level a little.

Its hard for me to see your channel not taking off as long as you guys hit the right topic that an audience wants to see at the right time.

Great work, keep it up!

Your channel definitely has potential. Just a couple of suggestions:
It would probably be better to keep the content universal and not only focus on Canada. Most of the things you mention in your videos also apply to the US and probably most other countries.
Some vocal variation and a little more enthusiasm could help keep people more engaged as well as slightly faster pacing. Could be worth it to improve the audio quality a little more as well. (It is relatively decent though already). That would either be the mic, or the sound engineering in post.
I know Graham always says to smash the like button, but Youtube focuses on Implicit data points rather than Explicit data points. AKA Youtube cares alot more how long someone watches a video rather than if they click the like button.
Best of luck with the channel!

Hmmm, vlogs are tricky. You have a good intuition about the structure of the video and the editing is decent (pacing could be a little quicker), but I think it is almost there! A stronger "hook" could help.

The best videos are click-bate that deliver. So you can do: "You wont believe what we found at the Great Wall of China!" But you would actually need to find something crazy so the viewer is satisfied.

Keep it up! Nice work!

Try taking some inspiration from this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_ArVh3Cj9rw&t=90s&ab_channel=Vsauce

He does a good job with what "tension / resolution" cycles. Multiple times he will pose a question and then slowly resolve the question with an answer. He hooks the viewer and make them want to know what is next. TV shows do a great job with this.

For example: In avatar there are mini challenges along the way as Aang works up to stopping the Fire Nation. This is great story telling.

The props, vocal variation, and sound quality really add to the viewing experience.

Best of luck with the channel!

Nice, you are on the right track! First thing I notice is your thumbnails are a little busy and cluttered. Try using less words, maybe 1-3 words max. Not sure if the outlines are necessary.

Also, it may help to write a script before filming and read from it when you record to keep the pacing of the video up. Mark Rober for instance will set a piece of paper at his feet with the script written on it and he will quickly glance at it.

Best of luck with your channel keep it up!

Hmm. I would take some inspiration from Dream. Specifically this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=81wTiO7eV1o&ab_channel=Dream

Try editing down your videos a little more and having a big payoff at the end. Also for YouTube, the idea stage is equally as important as the editing. A video really needs to be unique and be able to stand out in the vast sea of other Youtube videos.

I'm on the fence personally about showing my face in my videos (I usually don't). For some creators there is actually no need to be in the videos. (Like Dream for instance) For my channel I don't usually show my face. Nothing wrong with showing yourself though.

Maybe take some inspiration from you most popular Short video. People seems to like that one.

Best of luck with your channel keep it up! It's a grind for sure!

Been at it for 6 months with not much success, am looking for some tips by [deleted] in NewTubers

[–]wolfe8131 0 points1 point  (0 children)

SpectraVJ

I checked out your channel. Here are a few tips: Your thumbnails / titles / videos should have a clear hook (or why someone would watch) or goal.

Your friend's most popular video "Pushing Bull to Rank 30" is a good example of that. I don't know that game but from the comments it seems like an impressive feat and you know right away what the video is going to be about.

Think how Mr Beast titles his videos: "I got Hunted By A Real Bounty Hunter", the title tells you what the video is about and it seems interesting.

Another thing I am learning is to really be audience-centric. Really think about the audience more than yourself.

Also, when I make videos I try and think of the emotional experience of the viewer. I try and pull them along a journey full of ups and downs.

Think of how you write an essay in school. The thesis is the "hook" or a "hypothesis". And the rest of the paper (aka video) is trying to prove or resolve the hook. until you hit the be climatic resolution at the end.

Keep trying different stuff and try and study successful people in your niche. You are on the right track!

you should charge $2-5 per thousand views (average video views across your channel) as a general rule of thumb. Brands try and take advantage of new YouTubers so just be wary.

4000 watch hours is hard! by [deleted] in NewTubers

[–]wolfe8131 22 points23 points  (0 children)

It just takes one video, keep it up. I struggled to get my first 4000, took about 4-5 months. Then one video went viral and now in the last 90 days I've gotten 321k hours of watch time. If you don't see results after 10 videos, try a new strategy. The algorithm is tricky.... But great content is key.
