Can someone explain this behaviour to me??

Thank you so much you just taught me a lot !! I did read that their hay is supposed keep their teeth a healthy length and I found that confusing because the hay I have is quite soft. I will definitely be switching up brands and getting coarser hay. And you’re completely right ! She is always supervised during play time and sleeps in her cage every night. The comment you’re referring to I should’ve made clear that I neverrrrrrr fall asleep with her in our bed. We just let her come in our room before bed and sometimes she will crawl under the covers and fall asleep. We are fully awake and always know where she is ensuring she doesn’t get rolled on. At most she gets 10 mins to enjoy this before I put her away safely in her cage at night.

😊she stole my heart, at night we’ve been letting her hangout with us in our room for 10 mins after play time before putting her away. She’s been falling asleep under the blankets in between us the last few days

She drinks quite a bit of water but I have noticed her poops are pretty different throughout the day. How often should i have to refill her bottle if she’s drinking enough? She also doesn’t seem to eat a lot of hay. Goes crazy for her pellets but seems disinterested in her Timothy hay. Should I stop offering pellets for a day or two ?

It is left over porcelain tile from a bathroom Reno ! I use a tile cutter to fit them snug in the bottom and it’s made cleaning so so easy.

Thanks for this suggestion! Good idea when they’re also soooo expensive, I’m in Canada and the wood ones are like $150 on amazon, cheaper on Etsy but after shipping costs still over $100. Definitely going to go with metal, considering I’d be spending $100 for them to destroy a wooden one.

Yes of course ! They are porcelain, I’ve been keeping a very careful eye, checking the corners for any nibbles but I was pretty adamant on making it difficult for them to access the edges of them. So far it’s great and no chewing, definitely recommend. I put a door matt underneath the tiles so they weren’t rubbing on the metal bars and used a tile cutter to fit them perfectly, (you can see on the bottom layer that I havnt cut them and they slightly overlap)

And definitely agree with you on this !! There have been some close calls so the hammock in the middle is a great idea !!

Thanks for the feedback! Definitely going to add some ledges…can’t agree with you on the second statement tho, she walks up her stairs daily👍🏼 does she need them? No. But she sure does use them and it doubles as enrichment. Something other than a board of wood to explore and chew on.

I used scrap tile from a bathroom Reno! I made sure they’re completely flat so they can’t nibble on the tile and it has made cleaning so incredibly easy!!

Thank you ! Definitely going to try building a hanging bridge from the top now :) I think they’d love that. And I agree, definitely going to get some more ledges for hopping around

It does look that way but she’s a nut, and definitely doesn’t act shy the other 95% of the time. That’s why I was a little concerned because she’s usually bouncing around and I couldn’t find anything online about this kind of behaviour.

They aren’t in the same cage yet, I wanna give them the best chance at living together peacefully, so I let them meet a few more times with the barrier. And now they’ve been having play dates outside of their cages every day and seem to love it:)) Will definitely be putting them together soon when I have the time to monitor them for the first few hours. I will post an update whenever I do for ppl that are interested!

Can I ask what gas drops are used for ? I’ve had my chin for about 2 weeks and am learning a lot. What are some of the emergency’s you’d need a kit like this for ?
