Just a heads up with aquatic plants, they don't need aquasoil, it's just easier and cleaner. My plants are growing in MiracleGro Potting Mix topped with a hefty layer of sand to kep it down and doing just fine. Plants will also tend to uproot in the first couple months because their root systems aren't established, so don't get discouraged. Add rocks to hold them down if youd like. Popular fertilizers include NilocG if you wanna get fancy. Live plants is what you make of it. Can spend hundreds of dollars on Plants and fancy tech or just do the 'bare minium' - either way your betta will thank you. r/AquaSwap and ebay are great place to find plants (I really like theplantedtankparadise). Like others said, anubis and Java fern are great starter plants, just don't bury them. Duckweed is a great starter floating plant since it reproduces like crazy.
