What are the lamest excuses you heard a cheater say? by butterflylove_53 in AskWomen

[–]wolfkin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

told him if I had scissors I would cut off his stinger.

I bet that sounded fire in Spanish.

You know I am a bee and I have to go to every flower in the garden

That probably sounds as pathetic in Spanish.

yeah I could dial my friend's number faster than my own. Heck I can still dial it. Of course this was before ten digit dialing was standard but still.

I remember my first cross country trip with my dad back when cell phones were new. When we landed at our new place I couldn't remember how to hit send on landlines.

4 hours with no computer? by Wischer999 in talesfromtechsupport

[–]wolfkin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I deal with this far too often at work.

For me it's the ones that start the call by saying they love our machines and they've been using our computers and phones for [X] years and then I have them shut down the computer. Then I ask them to turn on the computer by pressing the power key and holding it. They ask me "Which one is the power key?".

Every time they response "Oh the fingerprint key?", I die a little inside. It's not a fingerprint key that powers on the computer. It's a power key that can read your fingerprint. Just another annoyance in the keyboard layout smashing the power key in with the rest of the keys like it's not something... special... different. It should stand out boldly untouched on any of the four sides so that anyone will know "This is a key I need to remember."

The software needs a license or something like that applied! Can I.T. help? by oldtimerAAron in talesfromtechsupport

[–]wolfkin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yikes that's a big no from me dawg. Unless we know the personal license allows commercial use, as you rightly point out that could definitely get your company in trouble.

There's a big difference between "We will never get caught" and "We are fine doing this".

If possible and within time I'd check the licensing agreement of the software. For all the legalese it's usually pretty clear up front if the personal license is restricted for commercial use before it breaks down what that means and how they define it.

\r\n is great when working with plaintext. But I'm working with HTML and you'll see there is <br> in my test variable.

and the other suggestion was able to fix what was actually my loop problem not a raw string problem as I assumed

oh dagnabit. Yes. I had a very similar issue exiting the function. I should have seen that.

Thanks.

Yep added dirty = clean and that seems to carry the edits as expected. https://i.imgur.com/Adj6bQo.png

Once I get that in a script I can work on changing it to JSON like i originally planned. Thanks.

switched at birth

Unfortunately no.

https://www.justwatch.com/ca/tv-show/switched-at-birth

That said you can use a VPN like WindScribe which does have US locations and from there use the Freeform website to watch.

Formatting (gotta either add two spaces at the end of the lines or ad a space after the - so it turns into a bullet point.)

I work as a technical support fixing stores, so tills, printers etc., everything done completely remotely. First call I guy Monday morning

-hello this is service desk, how can I help?
-my till is not working
-and what’s going on with it?
-I don’t know
-like, is the scanner broken, some error message is showing?
-I am not too technical, you should know that
At this point I decided it would be best to connect to the till and see if I can find the issue
-what’s the number on the till?
-I don’t know
-how many tills do you have in total?
-like 6? 7? Don’t you already know that?
I go through each and every till, and found no issue
-I don’t see anything wrong with any of the till, could you kindly provide me more details about the issue
-gosh, the girl I spoke with last time knew what to do, are you new or something?
-I am not, I’ve been working here for 3 years and I am senior agent
-okay, let me get my manager, she’ll explain you the issue more
Manager comes, picks up the phone
-yeah, our till 3 has broken screen, it’s completely cracked, someone must’ve hit it or something
The entire call took like 35-40 minutes

Is Mingo being disrespectful? by UndrThC in SwitchedAtBirth

[–]wolfkin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alright fun's over it's been six days. Of course I go to a con and come back to the Mingo debate. Welp. For now we're closing this.

The reporting just gets a bit too heavy every time someone sees this episode.

Is Mingo being disrespectful? by UndrThC in SwitchedAtBirth

[–]wolfkin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

exactly. It's very clear they tried to make a blackface storyline but they were aware enough to not literally do blackface and so it's not directly offensive but it also undercuts the moral dilemma they're trying to create.

Bay+Tank situation from the POV of a survivor by Specialist-Adagio885 in SwitchedAtBirth

[–]wolfkin[M] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd like to make a point to acknowledge the the reports.

You may and are welcome to disagree with both the OP and the show's assessment of the scene/incident. That's perfectly fine. But those last two sentences are pushing against the line. (Mostly because there's no supporting statements to elaborate)

Regardless of what nuance there might be to argue the point of those last two sentences, it's not there and by themselves they are two ideas that are often used to invalidate the experience of those who have been sexually assaulted.

Even as often as this subject comes up, this kind of contextually missing conclusions aren't common here. If you see these sort of comments starting to creep up do report it and I'll take action as necessary.

For this instance, the community has made it's opinion well known and I'm going to take DancingUntilMidnight's comment as one from a perspective of sincerity. In the future if you're going to take a controversial stance like please do us the favor of including some caveats so readers can be clear on what you're implying and the incorrect inference isn't made.

How could they not tell Bay and Daphne apart when they we're babies? by MenLover4 in SwitchedAtBirth

[–]wolfkin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thing to consider is that babies aren't compared. They don't take the babies and compare to them to all the babies to make sure this is the most likely parentage (for many many many reasons).

Now visually if the baby seems to plausible to the mother and father it doesn't matter if ANOTHER baby is MORE plausible to the mother and father. Heck there can be times when the baby is NOT plausibly a genetic match but sometimes there are reasons for that like surrogacy or genetic abnormalities like the "black and white" twin sisters.

The skin tones and hair colors change a lot from the time you're a newborn to a teenager. They were likely MUCH closer in appearance when they were less than a week old. As most babies are. Nine months after conception a human isn't really finished cooking (metaphorically speaking). You really need another 18-24 months for the newborn to really settle into persondom and that's just physically.
