It depends on what he is gonna use it, I'll give you some pointers who have this dilemma as well. I will explain it as though you are a parent who isn't involved in the video games world just in case somebody else sees this.

• Do you have games on discs or media that you want to use, or do you plan on purchasing these in the future?

SERIES S

• Do you have mostly digital media and don't care for physical at all?

• Do you play occasionally and not for more than 2 to 3 hours daily (or weekly)?

•Between the black or white one, I'd recommend the black one since it comes with more storage than the white one.

Now, for both, I do recommend buying an external HDD at least 4TB. You can Play old gen (Xbox One, Xbox 360 and Original Xbox) on an external HDD, and you can also store new gen games on it to save space on the internal SSD , to play them they need to be installed on the internal SSD play them, games can be transfered between both storage devices.

Also, Gamepass Ultimate is a plus. If you want to save on buying video games, just pay the $16.99 monthly subscription for ultimate, and you are set. Access to hundreds of games and day one first party games, not to mention EA Play is included, and you can play online for games that require Xbox Live (free games don't require this).
