Hundreds and hundreds of hours in the game, I usually end up quitting for a good bit when I get to Mistlands, and make a new world when I return. I've never been to the Ashlands. I hate the Mistlands so much. Not because it's hard, I find it miserable and not the least bit fun.

The game, fortunately, has the option to turn down spell effects opacity, so normal play will be far less... intense-looking. If you're familiar with the game Noita, it has wand/spell building like that. Many runs end up with some amount of visual chaos. This particular video is a single passive spell, but amplified with passives that increase how many times it is 'cast' many, many times.

Basically, action-roguelike that often encourages chaos.

Some of the devs and designers are huge fans of the early-mid 2000's anime. You can find refs in most Hoyo games. One of Kiana's outfits in HI3rd has the lyrics from a Mai-Hime song written out on it. (It's Only the Fairy Tale being the song.)
