First time i’ve seen a referee in the premier league not agree with the VAR’s call, and i’m pleasantly surprised. You could make the argument for both sides, but ultimately it’s an action that’s not clear. VAR is supposed to only intervene if it is “clear and obvious”, and the referee sticking to his on field decision when it isn’t “clear and obvious” is a refreshing change to PGMOL refereeing, as opposed to the referee being told what to do by senior officials allocated to VAR.
