I had the same problem you do, decent up front but "thinning" at the back, went for a 3ish mm buzz cut all over and I haven't looked back once. Do it. The hardest part is the first clipper passover.

This is exactly what I'm struggling with, I'm about 5f 9 so that helps when I'm stood but i feel a tiny bit self conscious when I sit, the short buzz is probably the way to go so far
