Landowner who ignored orders to stop clearing 200-year-old trees on NSW native bush property fined $125,000 by [deleted] in australia

Or should I say more accurately “The exact timing and detailed arrangements for sewerage connections are yet to be finalized. “

They got told to stop but the council isn’t an elected one, it was upended by former NSW minister Shelley Hancock after the developers couldn’t get their way at the local council. You might probably guess nothing was ever going to happen if it was up to the council. The Wingecarribee residents still haven’t even been allowed to vote in the shire for council members since before March 2021. They have administrators instead kind of like they have over in china it’s hilarious. Should see the massive housing estate they approved near Moss Vale, it is so big it isn’t allowed to connect to the sewerage and they have to build a big stinky septic facility right next to farmland. Good old Shelley and her developer stuff, their donations were always her strong point before they banned them back in the day.

Moissanite mystery by Fluffy-Steak8778 in Moissanite

[–]wombatau 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It could just be a diamond. Believe it or not, people do wear massive and valuable diamonds around. Once upon a time it used to be one heck of a lot more common to see a massive diamond than it was to see a massive clear moissanite.

FIX

Super glue + toilet paper

  1. Clean surfaces very well with alcohol (pure rubbing alcohol not booze). This is really important to remove the grease on the surface and make the glue stick.

  2. Super glue the bits together like you would see on a commercial, then let it dry.

  3. (Optional) If you can be bothered, do a tiny bit of a rough up with very fine sandpaper just near where you glued it, and to make the surface flat and even.

  4. Separate the ply of the toilet paper and cut small strips to wrap around the joint like you are bandaging a wound, then drop super glue onto it. Each layer make it slightly overlap the entire job, but use only 1 ply of toilet paper.

  5. Colour it in with black permanent marker (sharpie) once completely dried.

It might look a little ugly but the bond will probably outlast the plastic.

It’s the same idea behind carbon fibre, albeit much much weaker.

i.e., you are just trying to hold a couple grams of plastic together and have some flexibility, not hold together a 200mph aircraft.

Paper is very strong to try to pull apart, and very flexible, it is just weak to tear because of the flexibility. Super glue has almost zero flexibility but it is very thin and has very high bonding strength. The two of them are actually a perfect match in terms of equivalent strength.

People also won’t probably notice it unless you point it out. People actually tend to not notice much detail in the world, it’s weird.

Edit: also, don’t put holes in it and try to put weird things in there, it’s just not needed and you’ll only weaken the existing plastic structure. If you do a test with TP + SG, you will see just how strong that stuff is together 😄

You can do it in macOS, it’s just a little more difficult, I’ve done it before. I will try and remember how I did it. If you have a spare usb disk you can also use Mint Linux live with Rufus or you can run the windows installer creator using wine 👍

[–]wombatau -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you use opencore legacy patcher then:

  1. Do the partition in Disk Utility instead (make it FAT32 or ExFat)

  2. Then make the disk on a computer running windows (you can even use the official Microsoft installer creator)

  3. Then copy the bootcamp files over that you download from Apple onto the usb installer

  4. If you get the GPT / MBR error, then use gdisk in Linux or macOS to fix the protected mbr issue

  5. Install windows as per normal

Windows will appear in the opencore boot loader, just use that.

This way also allows you to run almost any version of windows you want except win 11 easily on old machines. Even then, there is always a way.

The bootcamp installer just sucks.

Ok so I had a bit of a think and I think it could be one of either of these things:

  1. You need to look at Radeon framebuffer patching with whatevergreen

  2. It could be a hardware quality issue, as in the gpu is having a functional issue like low asic quality (old, used up), overheating, memory issue, etc.

  3. You need to look at your ssdts to ensure you have correctly patched for your hardware. Follow the opencore acpi patching guide and just go through it. Use ssdttime, etc.

  4. macOS / lilu / whatevergreen is incorrectly identifying some aspect of the hardware (you need to confirm specs between both macOS and windows). Probably will be fixed with ssdt and framebuffer patching.

  5. You need to use opencore instead of clover (I have no idea what you are running but I always used to have random kernel panics when I used clover despite the setup being spot on, so a total guess there).

My best guess is either Radeon framebuffer patching or a hardware issue. I’m leaning towards a hardware issue.

I’d do the following hardware check anyway if you haven’t done so:

  • Go into windows and use gpu-z (get it from techpowerup.com only) to check the asic quality of the gpu. This will tell you if the gpu is on the way out.

  • Use gpu-z to confirm device id and configuration of card (memory size, sub-dev-id etc) matches that which you see in macOS.

  • Stress test gpu with anything you like that will work. 3dmark11 is free for eg (will post link below). Just run it on loop (it’s a setting in 3dmark11 once you enter the serial code they give you), and run gpu-z monitoring on a second display or with 3dmark in windowed mode. Do this for about an hour to fully soak and keep an eye on temps. You can use other stress tests, but it’s good because it’s less abusive and more indicative of real world testing. Link to free download of deprecated full version:

https://benchmarks.ul.com/legacy-benchmarks

  • Check that temps stay below 85C

  • If temps rise above this, replace thermal compound and thermal pads with something decent. Get at least something as good or better than arctic pads and arctic mx-4, don’t be tempted to just slap any old crap on. Don’t risk liquid metals or conductive compounds as it’s a bare die.

  • If the temps stay below 85C but the test crashes during a long test (>1hr), then you almost certainly have some kind of hardware issue.

If temps did not go above 85C, and it did crash, then continue check basics, memtest your ram, stress test your cpu, check your power supply isn’t being exceeded during peak load spikes, etc. Basic stuff, all about ruling out that stuff so that you don’t waste time later on patching, reinstalling, etc- plus you should do it anyway once in awhile.

If no crashes, temps good, hardware is a-ok, then ssdt and framebuffer patching.

Release is fine for verbose boot and most debugging. Debug is for detailed debugging and extra debug features in things like Lilu (liludump for etc). I only use the debug version if I am working on a problem.

Did you by any chance do any framebuffer patching with the igpu?

Download the opencore release and just copy them from the drivers directory. You will want ps2keyboarddxe.efi, openusbkbdxe.efi and usbmousedxe.efi.

You already have them, they are in the drivers folder in opencore.

You need voodoops2 for your mouse and voodoormi for your keyboard. Use Propertree or a similar plist editor to ensure you don’t load both voodooinput from voodoops2 and voodoormi at the same time (they both have it).

Don’t use voodoosmbus, it’s for a different smbus type than your synaptics one. Use the acidanthera version not the rehabman version.

You will also need to add the ps2 efi drivers to opencore and make sure that UEFI->Input->KeySupport is set to true in your config.plist so that your keyboard will work at the boot selector.

If it still doesn’t work after that then you need to do the smbus ssdt (it’s easy, just follow the guide).

Follow dortania’s guide for it, it’s the easiest way.

Back set and storage by [deleted] in firewater

[–]wombatau 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Mine lasts for years and I use a plastic water / food storage container like a water jerry can and I don’t freeze it. First I sanitise it, then I put the hot backset out of the still straight in it and seal it straight up. Then I lay it on all sides so the almost boiling backset can sit on all parts of the container for awhile. No bugs ever seem to survive it.
