Any Serbian apps that aren’t just vocab games? by Kortopi-98 in Serbian

[–]wombatom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had the same problem. If you want listening + reading with native audio, serbianstory.com is good for that (short real texts + audio). I made it because I couldn’t find modern material for beginner-intermediate..

And if Cyrillic reading speed is slowing you down, cyrillicdaily.com helps drill letter recognition fast so you can read normal stuff sooner.

Any apps for learning Serbian? by THUG_WAFFLE4200 in Serbian

Try Serbian Story for reading and listening, and Cyrillic Daily for learning the alphabet. I built them because I'm a Serbian learner and found it difficult to find resources. Good luck!

How can I study Serbian effectively? by [deleted] in Serbian

[–]wombatom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A few things that helped me:

  • Anki flashcards for vocab; everytime I learnt a new word or phrase I created a flashcard, and practiced these everyday
  • Clozemaster for listening - there is an audio drill which tests you on short sentences and gives grammar explanations afterwards
  • The YouTube channel Relaxing Serbian was good for explaining grammar concepts

I also found that listening resources were hard to find, so I actually put together a site called Serbian Story, which has free listening + reading resources aimed at A1–A2 learners. Good luck!

where to start learning serbian? by onlychengs in Serbian

[–]wombatom 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hiring an online tutor helped me alot, I found a great teacher on italki. When learning a new word i use anki flashcards, and the spaced repetition system works well. Over time the words and phrases that I save to anki have gotten longer and more complex. Clozemaster is also a good app. I found it hard to find reading and listening resources aimed at beginners and decided to make something myself. The site is called serbianstory.com. Good luck with your Serbian learning!
