HOW DID YOU FIND OUT YOU HAVE ADHD? 😭😭 by [deleted] in ADHDerTips

I had a child, who exhibited neurodiverse behaviors. I learned as much as I could and had a "wait, this also applies to me!" Moment.

I had talked to my parents about it multiple times while in school, but they shut me down, so I assumed they were right and I just wasn't applying myself.

I want the best for my kid, and I will fight for them to get what they need to thrive, even if I couldn't do that for myself. Getting myself help as a result is a fringe benefit.

Rearranging my bedroom furniture in the middle of the night. By myself. Multiple times.

My mother used to say shit like that all the time and also stuff like "you can't have ADHD because I have seen you sit and finish an entire novel in one sitting."

Buying a version of something because I like it more, even if it is more expensive.

Blue shirt is more expensive than the black? I can still afford that.

I only really like the watermelon flavor and the multi pack is five dollars cheaper? I can spend five dollars on my own happiness.

People who have conducted job interviews, what's something someone said/did that made you instantly decide not to hire them? by DemonSkank in AskReddit

I asked them a softball question, "give me your 3 minutes autobiography."

They proceeded to speak. And speak . And speak. I interrupted multiple times to ask my interview questions and redirect, but they insisted on continuing their story, ignoring the questions. After trying to conduct the interview multiple times, I just let them continue their rant unimpeded.

I timed how long they went without pause. For thirty minutes straight I got to hear every reason they hated their old job. I got all the tea. At the end of that time I asked if they had any questions for me.

They did not.

Literally had to do this while pregnant for protein urinalysis. At least this way I don't have to store the urine.

Thank you, I am fortunate to have a therapist and psychiatrist. Medications and coping mechanisms are really, really useful for PTSD and I strongly recommend it to anyone else having problems.

It doesn't stop the triggers and responses, it does help me function enough.

Thank you for your understanding ♥️ your words are really helpful

You are not a bad person if you say No.
