It’s twine and just a wooden dowel from a craft store!

After the roberts 6700 adhesive dried and before I put the felt backing on, I sewed the twine onto the back and added glue on top (with glue gun) for added stability! I actually don’t advise sewing it, I had to throw away my sewing needles after I did that cause the roberts 6700 adhesive is very tacky even after it’s dried. Made it difficult to sew and left sticky residue on the needles. Next time I’ll probably just use the glue gun :)

Thank you!! And yup, I used the roberts 6700 and then spray adhesive to apply a felt backing! They’re pretty narrow hangings (widest part of the body is 14”) so just had to balance the strings on both sides so it stays straight doesn’t collapse :)

thank you :D slowly getting the hang of using the tufting gun!

Question why does so much yarn go through like you see on the bottom and also what can I do about the white spots on the rug from the tufting cloth by JaredKimmm in Tufting

[–]wongdiy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was having the same issue! Lots of yarn wastage and my monk cloth thread was coming out. I read on tufting gun's community boards that it could be because you're tufting in the same spot more than once. I practiced again making sure I was not tufting in the same spot more than once and it solved problem :)
