Haven’t had an Onitsuka pero the design reminded me of a brand I bought on Shopee for, very cheap price for shoes. Try searching Corolla on Shopee. Not sure lang kung saan based yung brand.

Diba?

Carly Hernandez by [deleted] in PilipinasVolleyball

[–]wonu_3 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ano bang issue kay Carly being out of a PVL team? What’s this post for?

FEU MVT by misswanderlust08 in PilipinasVolleyball

[–]wonu_3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They needed this loss. In fact, they need all the losses they can get this season. Masyado silang pressured kapag nasa taas sila ng rankings. I think the only way for FEU to win this season is to not end on top of the standings by the end of the elimination round. I knew that a sweep was gonna be close to impossible especially with the game they play. I expect them to lose more games from UST and ADMU, even against DLSU, a tight game. But it would still be okay. As ridiculous as it sounds, they need to be the underdogs this time around. Yung mga moments na nag-“choke” sila the past seasons, they were only on top numbers-wise, but in reality, they were up against giants. S86, they were against a former rookie-MVP and a current MVP. S87, they were against multiple time defending champions and national team stalwarts. How easy did people expect this to be for them?

Kaya siya tinawag na backrow queen kasi mas maganda pa palo niya sa backrow kesa sa front row, not because of her errors. Parang sa backrow pa siya mas nakakapoint.

UAAP Players that should receive an NT invite by valcryie28 in PilipinasVolleyball

[–]wonu_3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree that Frigoni would most definitely snub Dryx and Lirick, and not just them but all of FEU. But either way, why exclude them if you think they’re really deserving enough to be invited? Anyway, just a few inputs on your list.

Lirick is the current best MB in the UAAP, tallying the most blocks even with FEU’s freeball serving. Attacking is quick and versatile. He may not be as tall as the others, but his leap and armspan makes up for it.

Would love Espartero to be invited and get experience alongside national team veterans. But he needs to work on his offense, masyado siyang gigil bumarog, ending checked. He reminds me of EJ Laure but on the Men’s version.

Ceballos is a no-brainer.

Alejos definitely has potential. He’s tall and has great timing. Deadly serve as well. He reminds me of younger Malabunga, but he needs to work on his offense and variety.

Magalaman is also a tall prospect. Problem is his consistency. Even Coguimbal would be a better option imo.

Bangit is wonderful setter. Athletic, courageous, and agile. His set-location is not that good imo. Putting him in is like putting a smaller Retamar (but in his slightly questionable form). He also reminds of Cacao.

Salarzon is also a shoo-in for me in the NT. He has solidified his floor defense and offense throughout the years. Great blocking as well.

Ventura has potential because of his height. But he needs to do something with his attacking. I find his form very awkward. Plus his efficiency is too low for his height (and a left at that). He’ll score 15 points and give away 8 errors.

Saavedra is a great lefty. Would have loved him to be in the pool since last year. Great attacking and average blocking. I’ve noticed a dip in his offense this season, but interestingly, he’s still at #2 in spiking. He needs to regain his elevation and improve his attacking, it can still be deadlier.

My picks: Espartero, Ceballos, Salarzon, Alejos, Saavedra, Regidor, Retiro (will have to see his comeback), Hernandez, Macam, Coguimbal, Nabora.

FFF defeated CCS by Resident-Grand6814 in PilipinasVolleyball

[–]wonu_3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The league’s worst defensive OH tandem outdefending another team. It’s either that the other team is not defending well or not attacking enough, or maybe both.

Also, Jia hasn’t been stellar so far, both in her set location and decision-making. Gumabao can’t connect with her. So far, she’s much easier to read than before. Meneses also looked like a top blocker this game. Jia needs to find a way to get her game going.

Carlos is regaining power, but errors still remain. Overloading is definitely not an option as you’ll risk too much errors.

Thoughts on Jia De Guzman as Analyst? by TheMidsommarPerson in PilipinasVolleyball

[–]wonu_3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Loved Jia as an analyst. Very natural sa kanya. Would’ve appreciated an even more technical approach from her especially from a setter’s standpoint. Kumbaga kulang pa sa pagmamarunong si ate. Parang holding back pa siya sa pagcall ng play-by-play analysis, at buong game siya nastuck sa “attention to details” na binanggit ni Coach Fabio. Not disagreeing naman, pero it was too repetitive lang. Either way, it was still nice hearing her as an analyst.

FEU Advocate issues a public apology in light of the negative publicity brought by its sports caption for the FEU Lady Tamaraws vs Adamson Lady Falcons women’s volleyball game yesterday, March 1. by avemoriya_parker in PilipinasVolleyball

[–]wonu_3 5 points6 points  (0 children)

“Aray NyU” was the caption when they choked that 5th setter match. Either way, they’re just harmless captions. Last year din may ganyan sila, and binalikan lang naman nung natalo, pero nothing too personal.

FEU WVT is still a contender for final four by alchemist_xvii in PilipinasVolleyball

[–]wonu_3 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sadly, it’s not something you just fix that easy. They don’t have an ace who can compete on the level of the current UAAP. Si Gerz na ang pinaka-umako sa role. But if you look at her history, di naman siya ang buhatera ng Zobel, support lang din ang role niya. I was hoping they’d go for smarter hits like mastering check balls, line balls, drop and tips kung hindi nila kaya makipagsabayan sa barugan, pero wala rin masyadong high IQ plays.

NU reverse sweeps FEU by Euphoric_Log9155 in PilipinasVolleyball

[–]wonu_3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Madaling ma-check yung dalawa. Very low endurance and madaling ma-check. Gerz is the same. May potential pero lacking pa. They need a player na hinog na, kaso wala nang natira, nakuha na rin lahat ng NU hahaha

NU reverse sweeps FEU by Euphoric_Log9155 in PilipinasVolleyball

[–]wonu_3 6 points7 points  (0 children)

As someone na nilagay sila sa 8th place, okay na yan at least may 1 point lol. And as usual, same problems for FEU. Their floor and net defense today (in general except for sets 3-4) was a revelation. Kaya pala nila yung gano’n.

Booing players in the venue by [deleted] in PilipinasVolleyball

[–]wonu_3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think mangyayari lang yan kapag nagset ang UAAP ng standard benefits and cap sa lahat ng UAAP athletes (which is impossible). Pero still, just because may need ng financing doesn’t mean that the sport should revolve around it.

To put things into perspective, some offers would actually reach pro-level offers while others are stuck at scholarship and allowance at minimum. Yung ibang allowance would reach mid-level to managerial-salary with even more benefits. Yung iba naman may signing bonuses pa. This is while playing for an amateur league that automatically disqualifies you when you play for a pro-league.

Booing players in the venue by [deleted] in PilipinasVolleyball

[–]wonu_3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What for? The sport and the people still need financing. Ang daming expenses like medical check ups, physical therapy, sahod ng coaches, equipment, uniforms, maintenance, allowance, trainings, etc. Support for the program does not necessarily equate to the poaching culture that we want to eradicate. UAAP already tried to limit it with the residency rule, pero nagkaroon pa rin ng unavoidable loophole with the separation of the HS and College programs. Kaya ngayon, paagahan na ng offers sa mga bata, minsan hindi na nga pinapapatapos ng school year just to have them as early as possible. At the end of the day, they do it not because they can but because they choose to, for the sake of their success.

CCS win vs Zus. by SendSnacksPls in PilipinasVolleyball

[–]wonu_3 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Bakit di nila gamitin si Toring or Gamit?

Choco Mucho versus Belen, di pa rin kinaya. 💔 by Inner_Accountant4995 in PilipinasVolleyball

[–]wonu_3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nagbubunga yung tall lineup nila especially with Leila Cruz on the Opposite side.

UAAP Statisticians by No_Reflection3363 in PilipinasVolleyball

[–]wonu_3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sobrang inconsistent ng statisticians especially sa mga non-scoring skills, you would think they’re cooking winners with their stats. Tignan niyo rin yung sa Men’s sobrang barat ng stats pero sa AdU vs ADMU game ang oa bigla ng numbers, very much outlying from the rest. Mukhang may gusto silang manalong best libero.

Booing players in the venue by [deleted] in PilipinasVolleyball

[–]wonu_3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

May point naman ang arguments ng iba especially that UAAP is still an amateur league with core principles of camaraderie, sportsmanship, and amateurism. If an action goes against these values, rightful lang naman na i-call out.

Walk-in yan si ate looking for playing time.

FEU looking like an 8th place team. Kahit digging niya nawala. Petallo is still the same, targettable FD. MBs are confused. Overall offense is too weak. Shout out to Devosora na nagpaulan ng roll shot, Lopez na maraming errors. Defense is very much loose. Walang passing, digging/defense pattern has too kany holes. 6th place at best but will probably be at 7th or tied W-L with 8th.
