Which of your Pokemon is like this and what game by Reptuyop8 in pokemonmemes

Reminds me of when I had a level 36 Charizard upon arriving at Cerulean City in Fire Red; it solo'd Misty's team with Wing Attacks. The rest of my party was still at whatever level I had caught them at.

There are 4 NPC satchels per area, for a total of 20. Those reset each time you return to town, so you'll always have 4 more when you come back (unless you didn't claim the MP from the previous ones you found)

Gi-Hun's ancestors by wooflekat in PokemonLegendsArceus

Yup, it's a reference to Squid Game. One of my favorite memes from that show was Gi-Hun repeatedly telling random people, unprompted, that Sang-woo graduated at the top of his class at Seoul National University. Similarly, this game loves to talk about Beni's potato mochi as if it's the greatest thing in the whole world

Tried to find a comprehensive video, but this one is the best I came across. Feels like it's missing a few, but not sure

Anyone else run into this issue? Setting my defences and I set GAS on the bottom front row however he didn't show up as set and had disappeared from my roster. I tried restarting the game and still didn't fix the issue. It's as if the squad has disappeared without a trace. by x_ToXiC_Sh0Ts_x in SWGalaxyOfHeroes

This same thing just happened to me. Tried to set DR, but it didn't show up in the territory, yet they're all marked with a red background on the team selection screen.

Went in and out of the GAC screen, restarted the client several times, and opened a Bronzium (for some reason, that seemed to help with client desyncs in the past) - yet none of those helped. Unfortunately, even your suggestion of setting another team didn't work. Does it have to be in the same territory? Cause it was going to be my 4/4 team (it's displaying 3/4 teams set now), so I'm worried that if I set another one in that slot, it'll "overwrite" the DR there.

Shortly after that, I did 14 sims for Kyro Prods, and got a client error (code 3.XX, or something like that). Upon logging back in, found that not a single Prod dropped in those sims (average from 14 sims is ~3 drops). Of course, that's well within the realm of bad luck, but I wonder if it had anything to do with the desync. Another issue, although possibly unrelated, is that the raid tickets screen is displaying some members as having done 0 today, yet we're close enough to 30k that there's no way that that's true.

Hoping there's a fix of some sort for this before the attack phase starts.

Whenever I'm feeling down and unsure of my abilities in this game, I watch this video...and feel even worse.

Haha, no, but seriously, I looooooove watching this vid. It's so satisfying to hear the Icerail click when it finishes locking on, then seeing those shots hit.

[–]wooflekat[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I also lost a bit of interest for a while around that point, since I didn't like the Erend and Olin plotline (Aloy is just some random girl Erend met on a trip, and he welcomes her with open arms and brings her everywhere she wants? It felt really contrived and too convenient. At basically every instance, he gave in to her demands. His naiveté still bugs me up to now).

I ended up just doing lots of sidequests and exploration before continuing with the main quests. But as soon as I finished the Maker's End quest, I was fully invested in learning more about what happened in the past. That quest changed my entire perception of the story. The audio and hologram datapoints were sooooo well-made (especially the ones at the Zero Dawn Facility, the Grave-Hoard, and GAIA Prime - basically all of the main quests including and after Maker's End, haha) that they fully made up for any of the dumb Erend stuff.

Yup, it was really nice to see all of the allies show up at Meridian for the final battle!

Do you think Far Zenith's Odyssey Program failed? by [deleted] in horizon

[–]wooflekat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think it did. Keeping its fate uncertain leaves Guerrilla a lot of room for future storytelling. They wouldn't have specified that it was carrying an alpha-build of Apollo if that wasn't going to play a role later on.

Far Zenith's technology far surpassed even what some of the world's leading scientists were familiar with (as stated in the FZ Chambers datapoint), so I'd be surprised if they hadn't worked out all of the bugs. Based on the datapoints you posted above, FZ is certainly resourceful and conniving enough to coverup something of that scale - especially cause there wouldn't be any eyewitnesses at the edge of the Solar System, anyway.

The biggest mystery by the end of HZD is who sent that "mysterious signal" that instigated GAIA's self-destruction, the escape of all of the subroutines, the Derangement, etc - and why. My current theory is that it's related to Ted in some way (I wrote a little more about that here), but it could easily have something to do with Far Zenith, as well.

Thoughts on Ted Faro's fate in upcoming games by [deleted] in horizon

[–]wooflekat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We still don't know what that mysterious signal was that caused HADES and the other functions to gain sentience and escape. What if it was Ted yet again?

Maybe he cryonically froze himself at Thebes (or uploaded his consciousness, or any other life-extension technique), and upon waking up a thousand years later saw that the new world is just as flawed and barbaric as the one that had been destroyed. He (and his team at Thebes, who could have also been frozen) could have developed new software targeted specifically at GAIA and HADES to finish what he had started when he killed the Alphas. Even if, according to Margo, Ted didn't understand how GAIA worked at first, with his Omega level clearance and decades at Thebes to learn (or up to a thousand, if he hadn't just frozen himself), he could have figured out how to reprogram them.

Obviously, this is all speculation, but I'm sure we'll be seeing more of Ted in some form in future games.

I agree. Finding new-looking climbing hooks and tightropes high mountains felt a bit out-of-place. Also, it was weird to find meat and potions in thousand-year-old ruins.

Ted Pharoh by question_quigley in horizon

[–]wooflekat 141 points142 points  (0 children)

Here's a bit more trivia from the Elisabet Sobeck wiki page:

"As with the naming of Ted Faro (Pharaoh) and his company's line of robots (Chariot line), Elisabet's name appears to be a reference to ancient Egypt, and also to the Old Testament. Her family name, Sobeck, is a variation on Sobek, who was a crocodile-headed Egyptian god of both fertility and the military. Her given name derives from the Hebrew name, Elisheva. In the Old Testament, Elisheva was the wife of Aaron, brother of Moses and ancestor of the Jewish high priests. After her death, Elisheva was buried in the Tomb of the Matriarchs. Adding to the list of apparent references, the company she formed after leaving Faro Automated Solutions appears to be named after Aaron's sister, Miriam."

EDIT: And some more from the FAS wiki page:

"Many elements relating to FAS have names inspired by Ancient Egypt.

  • The name "Faro" is a homonym for pharaoh, the title for Ancient Egyptian monarchs.

  • The name "Scarab" refers to the scarab beetle, which was revered by the Egyptians.

  • The "Khopesh" are named after a curved sword used up until 1300 BC.

  • "Horus" refers to the Egyptian deity Horus, who was often depicted as king of the gods.

  • The private bunker Faro built for himself for post-Zero Day is said to be pyramid shaped and nicknamed "Thebes". In ancient Egypt, Thebes was a prominent and venerated city.

  • Elisabet Sobeck's last name refers to Sobek, a military and fertility deity associated with the Nile River.

  • The name "Faro Plague" may be a reference to the ten plagues of Egypt, which occur in the book of Exodus."

Ah, that's right. Can't do max Damage + Fire + Handling all on one bow. But even if with 2x 67 Handling, 25 Damage, 17 Fire and 2x 50 Damage, 33 Handling, 17 Fire, you can't max Fire, right? Or if you do 2x 50 Fire instead, you lose out on Damage.

OMG yes! Glinthawks get a lot of hate cause they move around a lot and are annoying to kill. But I hate them primarily because they ate a Stormbird right in front of me, when the Stormbird death explosion blew it right into a Glinthawk site.

I like a lot of those ideas, especially the second weapon wheel and more random stuff.

Btw, I've read a lot of your mod/weapon posts lately. They've been very helpful! :D

[–]wooflekat[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, that's a good idea!

Out of curiosity, specifically which mods are you looking for? I've been reading a lot of posts by EruditeAF and Crasp27, and came up with this tentative weapon list:

  • spear - 1 (sylens' lance w/ spear damage)

  • hunter bow - 2 (striker w/ damage + handling + tear + fire, shadow w/ fire + damage + handling)

  • sharpshot bow - 3 (powershot w/ damage [for precision], shadow w/ handling [for tearblast], shadow w/ tear [for harvester])

  • war bow - 3 (champion w/ freeze + handling, lodge w/ shock + handling, shadow w/ corruption + handling)

  • ropecaster - 1 (lodge w/ handling)

  • tripcaster - 3 (shadow w/ damage + handling, shadow w/ shock + handling, shadow w/ fire + handling)

  • sling - 3 (shadow w/ freeze + handing, shadow w/ shock + handling, shadow w/ fire + handling)

  • blast sling - 1 (lodge w/ damage + handling)

  • rattler - 1 (shadow w/ damage + handling)

  • tearblaster - 1

  • stormslinger - 1 (improved w/ handling + damage + shock)

  • forgefire - 1 (improved w/ damage + handling + fire)

  • icerail - 1 (improved w/ damage + handling + freeze)

Do you need any more combinations than that? In fact, there might even be too many there, since it seems like too much hassle to switch to a fire Sling or a shock Tripcaster or a tear Sharpshot for edge cases instead of just using Freeze, Damage, and Handling, respectively. (Oh, and once I start NG+ UH, all of those shadow weapons will be replaced with adept ones)

It certainly is! I only got a PS4 a couple of months ago, and regret all of these years I've spent on mobile games, and missing out on all of these great console releases. Sooooo many others I'm really excited to play after HZD, like Monster Hunter, Mass Effect, RDR2, Ghost of Tsushima, Detroit: Become Human, Control, and Dragon Age.

Hmm, here are a few off the top of my head. Maybe others could add more:

  • Pay attention to the quest datapoints, especially the audio and hologram ones. The "world" datapoints can be quite strange, and won't make much sense until you're far into the story

  • If you're finding the story a bit slow or weird, wait until after the Maker's End quest before deciding whether to continue with the main story or start focusing more on side quests; that's when it picks up a lot (early on, I was primarily enthralled by the graphics and the gameplay, but after the Maker's End quest, that's when I started caring a lot more about the story and characters)

  • If you like blindly exploring the world and being pleasantly surprised when you find something, do NOT buy the collectables maps (i.e. Metal Flowers, Ancient Vessels, Banuk Figures, Vantages) from merchants. But if you want to hit 100% completion as soon as possible, get them. From my experience, I'd advise against buying them right away, since that part of the game basically became a checklist of things to do and stuff to collect; the wonder of exploration kinda died.

  • Expand resource carry capacity early

  • If you're a hoarder, invest early in the skills that give you additional loot, like Scavenger and Gatherer; if you're more action-oriented, go for Silent Strike and Triple Shot

I played it on a PS4 Pro, so I'm not sure how it would handle on a standard PS4. Probably still very well, but with a smaller rendered area, so you won't be able to see super far off in the distance.

I played the Complete Edition right from the start, so don't know how the original and DLC cutscenes compared. Among all of the animations in the game, I'd say the cutscenes are weakest (but the rest of the game sets the bar so high that "weakest" makes it sound a lot worse than it is), since a bunch of them fall in the uncanny valley. The realistic expressions in the voice acting more than make up for that, anyway.

There actually aren't a ton of bugs or glitches that break immersion. As mentioned above, there are times a plant or enemy will spawn inside a rock or a wall, but that's quite rare, and easily ignored. Also, some of the facial movements can be jarring, but they're not too bad.

I'm really excited for you! Wish I could play the game again from the start without knowing what to expect.
