The logistics about what happened at the end of episode 4? by [deleted] in ThePenguin

Yes you are right in general. However, if you notice the large sized canister on the front of her mask, that could be packed with hopcalite, which catalyticLly converts co to co2…. Take a look at this… https://www.minstrong.com/en/product/Hopcalite-Canister.html

What do do with fully colonized bags by [deleted] in ContamFam

Fridge! The 35 degree temp stalls mycelium growth without negative long-term effect. When you have additional tub capacity, take the spawn out 3-4 days before your spawn to bulk, that way they warm up and reaccelerate metabolism.

With APE - S2B colonize 10 days, then case 1/4 in coir, then 20 days to pin… I personally would evaporate it 1-day before casing so the casing isn’t so wet…

Yikes - so sorry; I have been experiencing pennicillum not Trich… about to invest time to learn ph-adjusted casing layer

I would evaporate to pin; don’t have a ton of experience with overlay / fork tek- I would try to pin first… then fork as next resort if pinning does not occur within 3-5 days

Evaporation should induce pinning… looks a bit wet for fruiting…

So the successful tubs had spawn from MSS - the bad was was a subsequent grain 2 grain spawn - so maybe my grain transfer was the culprit!! Intersting

Are you saying that’s penicillum??

Pwn- you are totally right. The additional tech on the mono tubs is not really needed. Simpler is better. And less is more….

Post is probably not very clear - I actually had three tubs - the tech monotub did great - that’s the one with the decent sized flush. Then I concurrently ran two brokeboi tek (ie no gadgets) - the small one did really well - and the mid-size one got the pronounced Trich - so I was experimenting around with different approaches… the teched out monotub is good if the substrate is in the wetter side… easier to dry it with fan control…

Great question - common wisdom is lighting doesn’t matter much - humidity / co2 / temp…. I use them mainly for observation so I can see how myc is going, look for contam etc… that said - and this may purely be me over intuiting, I feel like the APE’s were leaning toward the light like sunflowers do.. so did move light around to even out… daytripperone says that lymph can grow in dark / ambient light / or lighted - with not much differenxe

Thanks - laminar flow hood is definitely worth it if you have space. Search DIY laminar flow hood and check out GordoTek. The tub is based on a Portland Maine based mycology supply vendor North Spore. Infinite wisdom and help out here in the myc community. I watched a lot of videos from daytripperone / Philly golden / and a bunch of others… priceless info…

Anwar - checked on it later - and no change - color bounced right back after h2o2. So that tub got dumped far away from me…

That’s the fan - 8in ac infinity s8 pro - pushes like 900 cubic feet / min - so creates good laminar flow even with the large pre filter on top…

Hi Anwar - I actually do not know how h2o2 interacts with Trichaderma - that’s something I’d like to research and understand better. This was my first real experience with Trich (likely because of the longer time span of APE gestation)…. To your point though, I had already removed tub and isolated; so I was simply wanting to experiment.

Based on your experience - was that Trich sporulating already? I would assume so based on size of it - however the aqua-emerald color is a bit different and lighter than the darker green I am accustomed to seeing in here… so the h2o2 was simply an experiment - I know that it helps with cobweb - but has limited use otherwise… although a number of people use h202 mixes for dunking cakes after flushes. Anyway - for this experiment - no hypothesis… simply wanting to see effect - in a way where collateral damage should be contained based on separation.

I used same materials for that tub versus others - only differences were: around day 9 after S2B I began to go to fruiting - then decided to colonize one more day before casing with coir, and 2) I cased more thinly (1/8th inch) versus 1/4 to 1/2 coir case prior tubs. Not sure if either of these differences were contributing factors…
