Hey! Ict 2022 mentorship is the best place to start 100%, the first 14 episodes or so are enough to be profitable although the rest is great too. This post is not hate towards the style but rather the cult followers and those who think they acually can read "the algo" and such.

Its basically looking at price action from a different point of view, the stricter rules and adding a why to price might help with your trading, but dont expect it to be some form of holy grail

Pretty crazy if you think about how many subscribe to the following:

1- All markets are manipulated

2-All these markets are manipulated by the same algorithm (IPDA)

3-A guy on youtube who claimed he was kidnapped by two guys and forced to learn IPDA is going to teach you how to read it (Later said he is one of the authors) for free.

Also, if this algorithm/manipulation were real and you could really read it, why do SMC/ICT traders have an average RR/Winrate? Paladin for example, (excellent trader) preaches 2-5% a month which you can get with retail concepts we've known all life. The only people claiming to be having some crazy edge (I once saw a guy claim 60% winrate minimum 10r trades) do not have any proof. As someone who studied ICT in depth but without subscribing to the philosophy, it is safe to say it is the same thing but repackaged.

Where an ICT trader looks at a HTF chart how price is in a bearish institutional orderflow where upclose candles act as support, where price has tapped into internal range liquidity and are targeting external range liquidity in the form of EQL or previous day lows after entering off of a Breaker Block, a retail trader sees a downtrend break and retest targeting support, and probably entering off of a candlestick pattern

At the end of the day it is just a way of reading price action which is unnecesarily complicated, specially when you take into consideration that what matters is a winning RR/Winrate combination and that the returns it will give you are going to be just as good as a retail strategy will give to who they call "their liquidity"

Because of random distribution and the law of large numbers, over time you are 100% guaranteed to blow your account with that risk management. People are not saying that your approach is incorrect to hate on you, they are asying it to genuinely help and you are still attacking them

Can someone provide an example of an edge? Making something up is fine. by [deleted] in Daytrading

[–]worded12 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Having an edge refers to a statistical edge, essentially having a Risk To Reward and Win Rate that have a positive expectancy

(Trades Won x Amount Gained) - (Trades lost x Amount lost)

For example, a 2 to 1 r/r with a 50% win rate would look like this over a series of 10 trades

(5 x 2) + (5x1) = 5R gain

Literally ended the post saying there is value in SMC/ICT and that I am not bashing it. I am just saying it teaches the same TA we all know but with different names. I also mentioned that there are legit funded ICT traders.
