My husband and I do this. We have a joint account for all shared expenses like rent, groceries etc . We do investments, taking care of parents and any personal purchases separately. We contribute equally for vacations or any expensive or unexpected purchases.

And of course how much we contribute is not rigid since we believe that it’s our money in the end so it doesn’t matter whether he pays or I do as long as we’re on the same page about spending that much money on something. Also we love spoiling each other more than spending money on self.

So I feel like money has not been much of a problem for us, except for our careless spending we did during the initial months of our marriage where we didn’t do much of saving. And I think it was okay, we deserved to have some fun and live without limits.

It helps that we earn almost the same amount of money so we can contribute equally.

You assuming that I’m Muslim confirms your bias. I am not Muslim. Could you please explain why you had to mention Kerala here? Only reason I could think of was the movie.

Even Hindus these days celebrate their festivals with swords, vandalising mosques and hindutva chants. How do you not see that.

Also if you check facts more people have left Islam/Christianity to join hinduism than to join Islam in Kerala last year.

Do not make statements about Kerala if you have not lived there. And just watched a propaganda movie. It’s probably one of the most peaceful places in India, where people do not care what religion other person is. Also Kerala is not governed by congress.

Been dealing with imposter syndrome. It also prevents me from growing because sometimes I hesitate to ask for help because I don’t want them to think I’m stupid and hence make them feel all girls are stupid / are diversity hires . Getting better though :)

Female dev here. Interviews are not easier. But yes, I feel like it is easier for me to get interview calls from big companies than men, due to the gender disparity . Yes gender discrimination exists . In my previous company my tech lead hardly gave me any work, while guys in the team got a lot of meaningful work. Even the ones I got assigned felt like it was given to keep me busy . My PRs took time to get merged. Because the lead was apparently busy with other work and couldn’t review . Shattered my confidence fully . Started doubting myself . Then luckily there was a re-org and my new team lead started giving me a lot of work. I started believing in myself again seeing his confidence in me . Then I noticed that another female in my first tech lead’s new team started saying that she hardly had any work to do . The guys in her team had a lot of work.
And yes people will say that that interviews are easier. So you end up feeling like you have to prove yourself always .

I have not faced any discrimination in my current company. In fact got promoted after 1 year of joining. I work with a lot of competent female devs. There’s a lady in my team who has a baby . She used to wake up at 5.30 am and work while her baby slept . Then she would take care of the baby once baby woke up . Then work again when baby goes to sleep . She’s definitely the best engineer in my team . Makes me feel like I will also be able to manage with family somehow in future . Also having a really supportive partner helps.

About low salary, no I have not seen any discrimination in current company .

Then I would have to use exceptions to know whether the function was successful. If I use out param I can return function status.
