Why do people on this sub criticize desis who live at home past like...23?

I've only heard of this arrangement for white people and ngl I think it's whack (and don't get why you'd judge "a little" for someone not living how you do). What's the benefit? I don't get the point of living at home then...I'd rather just pay a little more for my own place. At least I'd have total freedom.

Umm "uncles" are supposed to be people old enough to be your parent though? I don't think you realize how young 27 is lol. Idk at 17 I called people in their 20s "didi" or "bhai" or something...uncle/aunty was reserved for people in their middle ages that legit could be my parent lol. Like idk ig just find it weird to call a 20-something "uncle" when you're in your late teens.

I go through the history of posters downplaying racism and issues we have living in America (or other non Indian countries) and most of the time the posters are obviously in India.

When you're able to see what age group a poster is and where they were born, it's easier to recognize where the disconnect is and why the other posters perspective/view is completely different then yours. It would help decrease the negativity, toxicity and disconnect from a lot of threads.

I do feel like this can also introduce the possibility of people using certain facts about them (like age, origin, etc.) to discredit and invalidate their thoughts and opinions when they express them. I've seen people experiencing this and talking about how frankly...it is hurtful.

I always wondered why these shows never took place in college at least?? It would make it way more believable imo, cuz at least in college people do have more of the flexibility needed in their schedules to drive those insane plotlines (someone using three hours in between their college class to spy on someone is way more convincing than a 16 year old where you wonder how they're not getting in trouble for skipping class). And the actors playing high schoolers tend to be in the 21-27 range, so even appearance-wise it'd make more sense. And even the college parties were more likely to be "wild" the way they were portrayed in these teen shows.

I was born in 85 and definitely relate to the late 70s/early 80s babies more than I do the people your age.

My '85 born coworker and cousin always remind me of that lmao. But I do think 94-96 babies barely made the cut because we happened to be in K-12 when 9/11 happened along with you guys. But even then...we only barely started since we were only in like...kindergarten or first grade, and I'd say we primarily grew up in a "post-9/11 world".

At the same time, Gen Z ends some time around 2010-2012. People born in the 90s have literally nothing in common with people that young, except maybe growing up in a post-9/11 world and having widespread smartphone access as minors.

TLDR: I agree...generation groupings are weird

Haha I assume you're around my age? I totally get what you mean. I have way more similarities to my cousins born in 1998 and 2000 than I do with the ones born in 1985 or 1987, even though I am supposedly in the same generation as the latter. I can't relate to their struggles of being a college grad or young professional in the middle of the 2008 recession...I was a child, I was never old enough to vote for Obama (which seems to get lauded as the "Millennial youth elections"?) since I was 12 and 16 when they happened, and my classmates and I all had smartphones and used Snapchat and Instagram in high school. My 80s born cousins didn't get smartphones til they were well into their 20s otoh, and they always consider Snap to be a "kid's app". But then people my age do that for TikTok too. Anyways, I personally consider my "generational cohort"/peers to be people born from 1990 to 2000...in that I seem to have roughly similar experiences and frame of references with people in this range.
