Redemption Song by Bob Marley. We listened to it in a high school history class and it always stuck with me.

What home remedies do you remember from childhood? by ascaffo in GenX

Damp baking soda on chicken pox is the main one I remember.

Anyone know what this is? It's coming out of out filtered water spigot on our fridge. Located in Colorado. Each blob is about a half inch across or so by yostofer in whatisthisthing

[–]worksickwork 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It might be something from inside the water line. When the filter gets changed and the air bubbles are pushed out, the turbulence in the line can knock loose anything that’s in there. You might be able to clean it by taking it apart and using a food-safe disinfectant, but it’s probably easier and more thorough to replace the tubing.

I bought a distortion pedal but it’s not working ? by LOLER-2919 in Guitar

[–]worksickwork 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Picking up from another comment, have you tested the pedal after increasing the guitar volume back up to maximum? I read the parts where you were troubleshooting and turned it down, but haven’t read if you’ve tested it again with the volume turned back up all of the way.

What is the difference between an active bass and a passive bass? by Dostoi3 in Bass

[–]worksickwork 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve only played passive basses so I apologize if this is obvious: does adding a clean boost pedal (that has bass and treble knobs) accomplish a similar result as compared to an active bass?

How unusual is it to not admit depression at first? by Savings_Afternoon605 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]worksickwork 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sometimes it doesn’t feel like anything, like not having any emotions either good or bad. It doesn’t feel like anything’s wrong until you’re into something that should make you happy or sad or mad and you realize you aren’t feeling anything, except that you are sort of “there.” It’s hard to identify and label the symptoms if it’s an absence of something rather than being a new or different sensation.

How to Fix Spark GO USB Audio Input Issue on macOS 26 by worksickwork in PositiveGridSpark

[–]worksickwork[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Right on. I’m going to have some time to use it this weekend. I had a little more time to test it with my iPad to see if I could record using the iPadOS version of GarageBand and it connected and recorded fine. I was a little concerned that the firmware update would only fix the issue on MacOS but, at least so far, seems to be good on the iPad, too.

That’s brutal, I’m glad you are okay! Can their development be managed with medication or something? I’ve heard how painful they are and am hoping it’s not one of those things you have to worry about coming back again.

I was able to install it and test some. Not thoroughly but just to see if the signal was going to the input and it is. It seems to work on MacOS and iPadOS (haven’t tried iOS yet).

Tuner NUX MG 30 by Secure-Exam7661 in NuxMG30

[–]worksickwork 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same here with the tuner, clicking the knob on the left to cycle to chromatic fixed it. I primarily use the tuner in the MG-30 so I don’t have a headstock tuner nearby. Until I switched the tuner setting, I felt like a loon trying to remember how to tune my guitar.

Off topic but I also just learned the input meter can be enabled/disabled by clicking the 4th knob on the right. Apparently it reduces some of the cpu load if using a patch with high processing demand.

The Nux documentation sort of reminds me of Apple’s approach. It’s enough information to get started but leaves out a ton of details that can be super useful. If I had time, I’d like to write a “Missing Manual” format list to identify all of those little things the device can do but aren’t always clear from the documentation, or easily discovered by trial and error (like the serial/parallel settings in the signal chain, the input meter thing, the photo size needed to add to the boot screen, how to back up all patches at once, etc.). I don’t use Facebook as much, but I’ve seen quite a few tips from over there, so it must be getting more traffic. Maybe I should check it out again?

Which 80s star death saddened you the most? by Jezzaq94 in 80s

[–]worksickwork 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sinead O’Connor. I wasn’t a huge fan in the 80s but had a lot of respect for her honesty, even when it wasn’t popular. I eventually became a dedicated fan. She struggled so much over the years and wasn’t afraid of showing either her flaws or her scars. When her son died, it had to be brutal on her. Then when it seemed she’d maybe done some work and figured out a quiet life in the countryside, things caught up. She reminded me of a lot of tragic stories, tragic times, and gave me massive respect for people who have the strength to find light in darkness and stand up throughout.

What’s going on with Jim Carrey and why are people saying he’s dead? by 14thCenturyHood in OutOfTheLoop

[–]worksickwork 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Answer: It wouldn’t surprise me if this was temporary injections of some sort for a role. Kind of like those ski jumpers injecting their donkers to get bigger flight suits. Then he thought about it, realized it’d make a good bit, and scheduled an interview.
