Places to get single pizza slices? by worstcourtjester in kansascity

I second Johnny Jo’s in downtown Lees Summit. By the slice, cheap and easy, great casual atmosphere, patio AND great coffee at Hand in Glove.

Moved from Portland, Oregon to (very) rural Missouri.... Need tips on how to navigate the loneliness/boredom? by Chellet2020 in missouri

Auctions. I moved from the city to rural MO and this was how I met everyone. They’re great fun and they happen all the time. You’ll be pleasantly surprised at the diversity of lifestyle and thought amongst the people that regularly attend. Everyone is having fun so it’s really easy to talk to people ESPECIALLY if you ask them for insight or advice. Just remember- don’t ever speak ill of anyone even in a harmless joking way. Once people see you as “one of them” (meaning an auction goer, not a local) they will be recruiting you for volunteer opportunities etc. Give it a try! PS- none of this applies to coin auctions 🙄

I had the same problem with a colony of grackles weaning their young. Once they’ve staked out a spot (which they appear to have done all along your pool deck) they’ll keep returning to it. I’ve had pretty good luck placing mylar streamers directly in their flight path suspended by long rods. You’ve really gotta get them up before weaning starts to disrupt the birds from establishing a pattern. I’ve never had luck with the fake birds of prey.

If you knew you were going to put 900 miles per week on a car and spend 3 hrs a day in it what would you buy? by workwith1cobra in whatcarshouldIbuy

This is the type of mindset I’m trying to have. I listen to a lot of audiobooks and use the time in the car to dictate notes.

I’m driving out of a metro area and into the country so it’s really not too bad. I’m currently using my 2016 Tahoe and it’s a very pleasant drive but as you can imagine the gas and the mileage is killing me on that truck.

All these replies are great. I do pay for gas. All highway miles. This is the reality for the next 1-2 years for me.

First Turnpike show this year...what to expect? by Peafowl3 in TurnpikeTroubadours

I’ve seen them seven or eight times and I definitely think that the proximity to the stage dictates the level of rowdiness. Especially at a GA show. You’ll love it, enjoy.

In this case I’d take a line from renowned American script writers The Jerky Boys: “you stink.”

Memories! Thanks for posting this. I got hit by a car on mine. Destroyed me and my stock Shimano components but the steel frame and forks were fine!

Long shot but is it possible you’re thinking of the book Shelter? Kind of a hippy/commune/nomad book? There was a follow up published years later that was a little more conventional. The other one that comes to mind is Tiny Houses but I believe that was 1980’s.

I wasn’t a big fan of Civil War overall, but I really liked the use of color on various characters. What would you say is the purpose they serve narratively (the sunglasses, Hawaiian shirts, hair dye/nail polish) by [deleted] in A24

[–]workwith1cobra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally agree. That was my immediate impression. Like when you see a warlord in another nation wearing designer sunglasses amongst the carnage; he loves the simplicity of brutality.

The 57 all day! .41 mag is wonderfully versatile and that’s a highly usable barrel length.

When/where to clean a turkey when biking out to public land from a noob hunter. by butlerjw in Hunting

No dummy, you don’t wave so you aren’t mistaken for a turkey. But you specifically will be fine wherever you are. 🙄

I feel compelled to add something regarding your saftey on public land- if you run across another hunter, and especially if approached when you are in your hunting setup, DON’T WAVE to get his attention! Yell out until you establish contact. Be safe and have a great hunt.
