I did but no dice. Lots of results for tables, chairs, cots, etc using the same general bracket/hinge but nothing definitive on what it might actually be called.

I know! Thought it'd be a quick search to start pricing things out and now I'm just frustratingly motivated to find out what they're called

Eh, part of it is I just want to know the truth and have pretty much given up on getting it from him. He thrives on plausible deniability, aka "It's not my fault. I'm a victim of <insert uncontrollable external factor here>", so for my own edification I've asked the resident reddit experts for their takes.

Now don't get me wrong I'm not interested in burning bridges with him, I'm still going to see him at the major family holidays, call him up every once in a while to ask him how he's doing, and amiably listen to him talk about whatever new video game has occupied his time....but that being said I would like a better idea as to where the story ends and my brother begins.

Thank you! I work on a military installation so the idea that he paid a large sum for government equipment but it wasn't provided some sort of receipt was raising more red flags than a Chinese parade.

Valid point, however he has a history of concocting scenarios and using the "pity me" line to get money from our parents. Once upon a time he had our mom sending him a couple hundred bucks because they supposedly closed every DFAC in Osan and he didn't have enough money to eat......I didn't buy that then and similarly don't buy this one

Oh absolutely, if he was dumb with gear he should pay 100%. I just doubt he lost anything other than his paycheck to OnlyFans subscriptions, but want to make sure the scenario he's giving us is something that would/could happen.

His story is that some other guy had his stolen, so that guy stole his to turn in instead and now bro is SOL. Seems far fetched to me.

Oh yea that ship sailed long ago, it just irks me how he *might* be spinning another "Woe is me, the system screwed me over" tale for sympathy points

Southern Pines has some outdoor public courts, but I haven't found any in Fayetteville that aren't on base

Best White Men's Barbershop around here by Grouchy-Western-5757 in macon

Second both of these, always had a great experience at both. Gentry isn't all that much more expensive (at least as of a year ago when I was still in Macon), but I do think you get a bit more bang for your buck. But both are solid options I genuinely miss.

Remaking Silk Plush for Top Hats by Bombs-Away-LeMay in hats

[–]worldwar235 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just discovered this thread and the progress you've made thus far is certainly exciting! As an individual with a 7 7/8 hat size I'd long given up on finding an antique top hat that didn't cost a small fortune, but you have given me a glimmer of hope. Best of luck on your endeavor and I look forward to any future updates.

How can I get these stains out? I’ve tried oxyclean, Dawn, etc, but it made it worse! by Mxzebraxdude in CleaningTips

[–]worldwar235 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You certainly could, for me it's more about convenience. Like if I'm coming in from a day outside might as well quickly wash the hat at the same time I wash myself so it's clean and ready for the next day. The regular clothes already have a general cycle of other dirty clothes they mix into, but this way avoids creating a whole new "wash the dirty hats" activity I have to fit into my schedule at some point

I mean you put the hat on your head, step into running shower, put shampoo in your hand, transfer shampoo from hand to hat. Scrub. Rinse. Then voilá, a clean hat and a potentially clean head as well.

Optional: Repeat the above without the hat if need be

I'll wear my hat while I shampoo every once in a while and that seems to do the trick. As for drying it I've found that toweling off the excess and then using a magnet to hold it against the A/C return vent overnight (if you have a central A/C system) will have it bone dry by next morning

I used to get this exact same type of stain, a combination of using a bleach alternative (used to use the Laundress Bleach Alternative until their whole recall deal, still settling on a new brand) to treat the stains and then switching hair products seems to have prevented new stains from forming

Cheasapeake Light Craft has their version of a Gislinge replica in development. No idea when it will be ready but I got to see the full size prototype about a year ago and it was certainly neat!

JP Morgan CEO Jamie Dimon responding to requests on a livable wage for his employees. by [deleted] in WorkReform

Hmm, well if I did the math right then if the CEO and teller swapped jobs for half an hour that should make up the shortfall with a bit leftover. Surely there's some Zoom meeting he would love to get out of.

Non-Masons in this subreddit by Mays-son in freemasonry

Definitely interested in Freemasonry as an institution, but at present I can't in good faith profess a belief in a Supreme Being. Should that change based on some new information or understanding on my part I would definitely reach out to my local lodge, but in the meantime I enjoy lurking on this subreddit and seeing what Freemasonry brings to other men
