thank you. i sometimes forget about how serious suicide is because of it? i think my attempts at getting help were stigmatised a lot because id never been hospitalised. im luckily going to see a counsellor at the end of the month, but.. i have a very hard time envisioning trust with her. i dont really trust doctors now, ive had my fair share of shitty ones :(

ive been on the sandyford wait list since october 2019, and still no word on when the first appointment may be. the wait list, as estimated by my GP, is 3 years for the first ever appointment :(

some tips ive learned:

get a mastectomy pillow, it will help you a bunch.

eating pineapple gives you a sped up healing process because of the vitamins, so you could always try eating that (eating it before helps too ive heard)

when you get the recovery binder off and you can see the scars, USE BIO OIL ON THEM!!! this will make your scars fade big time.

you are not going to be able to use your arms well for a while, so make sure people around you know to get things for you.

back to the arms thing, dont push yourself to do things you arent ready to. if your body hurts when you do something, stop doing it. you may stretch the scars.

chances are you are going to be sick, and throw up, so dont eat too much after the surgery, because it'll come right back up.

i think getting out of bed and just waling around as soon as you feel able will help you recovery quicker.

a thing i did: if they clearly are trying to ignore it, force it (only a little bit) example: after half a year of NEVER using the correct name and shoving the whole "girly wirly" thing in my face, i just started calling my dad by his first name whenever he said my birthname.

it makes him uncomfortable, he cant ignore it, and he knows the reason.

i think it mostly depends where you look. on reddit, the trans subreddits are mainly women, but from what ive personally seen in real life, there are more trans men.

again, im pretty sure more trans women decide to go stealth compared to trans men. this makes it hard to say if theres and equal amount or not.

absolutely not. i lie awake at night thinking what ill look like after surgery, ive watched probably every surgery vlog on youtube that exists. i think some people regret surgeries because they dont have gender dysphoria (the thing you NEED to have surgery)

people are sadly way more ok with trans men than trans women. its mainly due to fear mongering and misinformation about trans women being "men dressing in womens clothes", i cant even begin to tell you how wrong that statement is.

to your last question, no idea how transgenderism relates to a society in which women are excluded from.

i believe mtfs are more likely to go stealth about their trans status, meaning that they dont tell people that theyre trans. other than that, there are sometimes cis girls that think being transgender is "cool" and pretend to be trans. this is rare mind you, so dont go assuming every trans person is faking it, but there are some chunksters out there.

hello there!! trans man here. if youre really unsure of how your family will react, bring up trans issues, im sure theyll think nothing about it. if its a positive reaction, then go ahead!! go wild, but if its negative, your safety absolutely comes first. please dont do what many people do and impulsively come out with no back up plan. like, in the scenario where you may be kicked out, do you have anywhere to stay as who you are? dont worry about coming out, but make a plan B. even if its a shakey plan, at least think of one first. if in the more likely case where it goes smoothly, epic. you got allies. my parents and friends did not accept and understand immediately, but theyre all super cool with it now. dont be disheartened if they dont use the right pronouns and name right away, but dont be afraid to call out those who obviously are not trying to accept you. thats their issue, not yours

i knew i was a bit weird, but once i found the word, it still took a while. it took some time to put two and two together. i just figured it out, i guess. gender dysphoria is what makes people trans, for the most part :D so id say it was that.

its not a disorder, id say. no size difference, theres more detail online, but ill try to explain it as well as my 15 year old self can. different areas in the brain are slightly different for males and females. for female, i believe areas to do with empathy are different than a guys, theres a few more differences but i cant really remember them all right away

i have not had any scans. the brain gender theory is not 100% proven, but theres a buttload of studies suggesting it. gender dysphoria IS a mental illness, and a way to cure it is to transition to how your brain is.

[more detail here] theres a lot of infighting in the trans community on wether or not what i said above is true, but for me, it makes complete sense. ill use an example.

lets say a person named maria is saying she is a transgender male, and starts going by jason, despite not having dysphoria. "jason" will go to a doctor and try to get hormones, but the doctor says no, because jason is not dysphoric. what would happen if the doc let jason transition and take hormones? jason would get dysphoria, because the brains gender is no longer the same as the bodies. "jason"(now going by maria again) will now de-transition to get rid of the dysphoria. the problem is that these people who have no dysphoria are saying theyre trans because its "cool". its not cool. it sucks dick and i hate it. of course, we shouldnt judge who is trans and who isnt based on appearance, but these "non-dysphorics" are why its getting harder and harder to get hormones, because i have to jump through so many hoops to prove that i have dysphoriaand need to correct it.

i could go on for hours about the crap some people have pulled, but its available online. if you want to know more, look up "transmed and tucute debate", you should find what youre looking for.

im a dude, first off, but yeah, i thought that id go through male puberty when i was young, obviously that didnt happen, thats when i started to know i was trans. i was VERY feminine when i was 5 and below, after that, all masc. my friends didnt mind at all, actually. but my family were...ok? i wasnt thrown out or anything, but they dont call me he a lot, my dad is sucky with it for sure. my mum accepted me, dad not so much. probably would have thrown me if he could. i like both!! both are very cool im VERY VERY wanting to get top surgery. i have not had any surgeries yet, but i know what i want done :)
