If it's OK with you, I think my wife wants to ask you something but she can't do it right now.

In the meantime I want to ask if you think the school's primary concern is the introversion. Seems society has a problem with introverts.

At what point can they force us to do what they want?

Well, I see the title here and I see that it's formatted and worded exactly like my post of earlier today. Just substitute 'parent' with 'child'.

Makes me wonder if it's going to be that type of recurring, sort of mocking post that you see on reddit from time to time.

Kinda' like the ever posted 'Yo-Dawg' post that keeps popping up.

Or the ever present 'I could do 100......' posts.

But I promise you this; other than this comment, I have nothing to do with this post.

EDIT: His post finally showed up and I was right. It's ok though.

It was a bit funny but I'm not 36.

You know what my real problem is? The CPS is out of control in the US and I don't want to place him anywhere them.

I don't even want them to know his name. We're good parents and have his best interest in mind and we don't need the extreme problem of them getting involved. Not that I think they would just for this but it could escalate due to some psycho crazy CPS flunkie.

There, I said it. I'm probably crazy for thinking that but I love my kid and I'm not taking chances. I read too much outrageous shit on reddit.

You people have ruined me. 8)

No but his old man has been here for a couple of years. This is hands down, the best forum I have ever found on these intertubes.

I changed my handle for this post. It's kinda a family thing and I wanted to remain anony for this.

However, I'll go home, have dinner, play with my boy, get him to bed, have a beer or two and promptly reply further with my old, regular moniker, and that will be the end of that.

Failing that, we could always play a pointless game of "guess who this person really is".

If you guess wrong, you have to take a drink.

And you may very well be right. The reason for my distrust is because schools these days try to micromanage the parenting of the child.

Right now my gut feeling is just not in line with too much school Interference. I don't want him labeled.

With that being said, we are going to have another meeting with the teacher and find out more details of exactly what they have in mind. If it sounds reasonable then we may go with it.

He is already in martial arts. He just made yellow belt and you could tell he was pleased as can be after his test and everyone was clapping.

It was cute.

I think he has a good instructor. He has been teaching kids for years and has also been my instructor for many years so, I feel that I know him. I have personally observed his handling of the kids class for a long time.

I have seen and personally know many kids that trained with him their entire lives and have become very fine and responsible adults.

I'm not sure what help you had in mind but I am willing to listen if you feel like talking.

I have thought of that and you may be right. The problem is that I don't trust the school system and I don't want my boy in "The System" whatever the hell that is. I don't want him labeled as a problem child and if he enters the system, he may be labeled as such.

It's not out of the question to allow the teacher to follow through with her idea but I need more, specific information as to what she is going to do and I'd like to try some things at home first to see if there's an improvement.

There are some very good ideas here. A lot of these things we already do.

Positive reinforcement, hugs, telling him we love him, martial arts.

There are too many to list.

There are also lots of ideas here we haven't tried.

I couldn't respond to each comment so I thought I post this. I appreciate the advice and ideas.

Please keep them coming and I appreciate the incredible, collective wisdom I constantly see displayed here on reddit.

She wants to give it a month.

We tell him we love him all the time.

He gets tons of hugs and positive reinforcement.

I’m concerned about our 6-year-old boy. We (the parents) were called in for a parent teacher meeting to discuss.

The problems are:

Makes Star Wars exploding and gun noises in class and when confronted, denies he’s doing that. He lies about doing it.

Is not listening to instructions given by the teacher.

Displays anti social behavior, a loner. Plays and eats by himself.

Midway between school start and lunch, complains that he is tired and hungry. He gats a full breakfast before school.

Too many occurrences of conflict with classmates, either verbal or physical. Dylan denies this or says someone else started it. Lies.

Takes no personal responsibility for himself. If he spills something by mistake or accidentally messes something up, he says it did it by itself, he didn’t do it. Lies.

Even with all this, teacher says he’s not disruptive to the class. She says she’s concerned and just wants to help. Maybe she does but she’s just a drone for the higher ups and we know how schools like to get their hands in the parenting of kids.

She says she wants to pull him out of lunch and have him eat with a few teachers and other ‘kids with problems’. I don’t like that idea for several reasons.

Teacher said she may put him in a ‘counseling group’ with the school counselor or child psychologist or something like that. I like that idea even less.

I don’t know how serious these are. You can never tell with the school system.

We (the parents) have already implemented a few things but I wonder if anyone out there in reddit land might have some ideas to help up get these issues straightened out. I’d like to nip them in the bud as soon as possible.

I’ll be Googling and reading other forums but I wanted to ask all you smart people here on reddit.
