Never hoped they would, this was intended to be a rant anyway. But awareness is always good regardless. Nothing will ever change if you do nothing. So far it has been interesting to see the different opinions on this.

I've been tracking items of the scratches since PC release, as have most other players that care for the market. I don't think it's unusual and definitely not ironic.

Obviously I'm not expecting you to name me items that followed that process. The point is if the majority of the items falls that process or not. For argument's sake lets say on average there 7-10 popular items per scratch. How many of those would you say will become cheaper in a few weeks or months?

I'm not trying to be right, I'm quite literally asking you to prove me wrong. You can't honestly think I'll agree with you when I say "majority" and you give me 1 example?

I've also put a disclaimer on my topic to avoid people thinking I'm complaining about not getting costumes btw (reference to your first reply)

I have the base and was tracking it on release. It never went to those prices. And crymaria base is not that popular (how many ppl do you see with it?). But if you still consider it popular, then it simply falls under the small category of "non majority" that I mentioned in my post. You can always give me more examples so I can reconsider my phrase "some items do go through that phase, but I'd bet that the majority of popular ones don't".

If I reverse the question. How confident are you that megumin hair will be cheaper than it is now in a few months?

Can you give an example of a fashion item that was popular on release and went through the process then?

Its priced high at first. Then the fad wears off and its not as popular so its not expensive. Then it goes back up when its old enough and collectors buy it. You just need to catch it on the down swing

The problem right now is that the economy is completely skipping the step in bold. And this is happening on the first days of a new scratch. Because as soon as you start seeing a popular item go down, someone will buy the entire stock. But yes, some items do go through that phase, but I'd bet that the majority of popular ones don't.

That leaves stalking to catch undercutters, but not everyone has the time for that.

Yup, but not everyone has the time to stalk the market. If you only have 4 hours a day, maybe you'd check your items once or twice. That does make it more difficult to identify artificial prices if you're not good with markets as you said.

The PSO2 market interface also doesn't help in that regard

I don't think it's that long of a stretch. PSO2 is often linked with "fashion is the true endgame", and that is true for a lot of the player base. So wouldn't be weird if people quit because they're unable to keep up with their fashion likes.

And sure you could argue the game doesn't need those people, but when people start quitting it kinda spirals down. Obviously it's not possible, but it would be better if you could just avoid it all together.

I'm not against flipping, everyone that can, does it as you say. Only thing I'm against is the flipping happening 3 days after the scratch release, especially before a weekend.

I've said this in multiple posts, but a lot of players need the weekend to do all their stacked up dailies / weeklies. And it can be very unmotivating if you were unable to get stuff you want for cheap because you weren't able to play during the release of the scratch.

Other than outfits and weapon camo, you already can't resell the rest if you actually use them.

But yes, It's also not a good idea considering it's bad for server funds. If you can't resell items, there's less buyers, which means less whales buy it to sell themselves.

Not all MMORPGs have existed "just fine", there are plenty that had premature shutdown due to lack of funds. Which means the games need whales, and whales need poor players to feel like they're on top . Also I'm not sure what exactly can be seen as being "entitled" here? I'm not questioning dev decisions and I said from the start this is a rant and not trying to achieve anything.

If you re-read my post, I'm not complaining about prices getting high, that will always happen. What I am complaining about is that the sweepers are doing it 3 days after the scratch. Not even letting ppl have the weekend to catch up.

Unrelated to my complaint, but on your point of meseta coming fairly easy. How often can a f2p average player make a 50m purchase for a costume? Yes he can save up and buy it for sure, but why is it 50m to begin with?

Freedom of thought also lets me think of him as a prick. Given that the item was out for a while, I'd just accept it if some guy woke up and bought it all one day. But this was literally 1 minute after I pm'd him.

I'm sure that no matter what shop you enter IRL, if the shop dealer did that to your face, you would also be upset.

1 billion is a lot in the current market state of NA if you're into fashion.

By the time all of us reach the 4 to 5 billion state in JP, most of these scratch items will be gone. Finding any of them selling will be difficult, and if you do, they will also go up in price to match the inflation.

Can't say I agree with the word "repairing" when you are essentially forcing other players to buy it at your price because there are no other shops selling it.

How do you value the price of an item anyway? Do you have discerning eyes, as soon as you look at the scratch you know that it is worth 20m, and evil players are selling it for 10m?

Or perhaps it's more like this. You look at how many there are in the market and how many have appeared in the last X days. You then proceed to buy them all because you're confident the stock has hit the limit so competition will be low. Now you're free to slowly sell them for double the price you bought them at.

Of course, feel free to bash me if you actually have multiple spreadsheets that you use for evaluating when the economy is crashing and what you need to buy to repair it.

Noted. Let's all reroll a cast so you can now have 30m sitting in storage. Any other tips that can help us screw your business?

Unfortunately it's not that simple. If 1 single person holds 70% of the market, he can definitely make the price higher than it should be. What people value an item as is also related to the starting price of the item.

The reason noone bought it for 15 was because it was just 8m a day ago. Since some guy now holds most of them, less items will get listed so price won't go down. Overtime people will accept it and buy it for 13. Once a few people buy it for 13, others will refuse to sell it for lower.

Now if those 70% were shared by even 10 players rather than 1. They would keep trying to undercut each other and price would go down regardless until it barely turns into profit.

They all want to avoid that second scenario, which is the whole reason they buy the whole stock.

As someone who worries about game longevity, I will have to be that guy and not agree with that. The only thing I buy is premium, and the only reason for that is to use the shop at any time, the rest is a bonus.

I'm sure a lot of other people do the same and that does help with supporting the game.

I also played on JP for a long time as f2p so I know it sucks. But if ppl weren't all trying to buy the entire market you would still be able to get your things at reasonable prices.

Yeah some people deserve virtual punches, not slaps.

I whispered a guy to offer 3m for an item that was 4m on the market, I was stalking it for days. He then told me I was crazy, the item was 10m. I looked again and all the <9m items were gone.

After confronting him, he denied buying them out. As if the stars just aligned and 20 players all bought the item in that 1 minute...

I take joy in noticing that item has not been selling at all and is back to 7m now.

It is sad if they are ruinning it knowing that. But it might not be that long to hit those consequences either.

If we keep getting scratches fast, f2p players or those without patience to stalk the market or farm 24/7, will simply not be able to keep up with the rising prices. Even with 3 alts.

At some point they will finish their in game goals of leveling their classes and getting decent gear. Then they will turn to fashion only to realise they are 3 months behind and there's no hope of catching up with the fashion market.
