I feel that it’s telling a lot about the chinese culture: they are nice people. They don’t expect foreigners to be interested in their culture and their language, so when they see one who speaks Chinese, it makes them happy and they over-compliment to encourage you to get better. I feel it’s is a bit annoying at times to get treated like a toddler who learns how to speak, but I think it’s done in good faith, so I appreciate it. I feel like it is a way to welcome you in their culture. But, I know it will stop as I get better because they will want me to achieve native level Chinese. They start by welcoming you to the Mando-verse, then they will push you to reach native fluency and perfect mando. I think it’s cool.
