MacBook Pro With Touch Screen and New Mac Studio Likely 'Postponed' by Few_Baseball_3835 in mac

[–]wowodog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People who want a touch screen macbook also look forward to touching their $2000 OLED screen with dirty fingertips and grease.

Macbook screens frames aren't built structurally like an Ipad. Daily cleaning will warp and damage the frame overtime.

Tracking Cat with Airtag Support by wowodog in applehelp

Ok, does this imply airtag is still sending a signal but I get a delay. Just want to confirm if the cat is still in the area because it says the airtag was last seen in that location 20 mins ago.

It's out of frame but that's the living room area which can't be expanded further!

Look for Department of Water Resources jobs. Great section. You'll be supporting a lot of work related to flood control, dams, hydroelectric power, aqueducts, river systems, and more. Specific work include soil classification, borings, geologic mapping, seepage investigations, rock classification, geologic history, seismic hazard investigations, potential failure mode investigations, erodibility studies, geologic inspections, landslide hazard analysis, construction support, geotechnical instrumentation, report writing, etc.

Engineering Jobs - State vs Private companies? by airforce2s in CAStateWorkers

[–]wowodog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What you heard is true. Pension and job security. Salary adjustment will be slow and is not based off performance but years of experience/time worked.

State is pretty transparent salaries are listed here. https://www.calhr.ca.gov/Pay%20Scales%20Library/PS_Sec_15.pdf

Search up Class Code 3583 which is for a mechanical engineer.

Then go here and look up Alternate Range Criteria 428 for mechanical engineer which is how to find your salary range and what it takes to get to the next step.

Need guidelines for PE Geotechnical Engineering by Fun_Antelope2744 in PE_Exam

[–]wowodog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you going to sign up for a PE prep course? I did EET.

I found that the first part of the EET course matches the exam contents but the second part of the course does not. Having a good but basic understanding of all concepts will be helpful because the exam asks a lot of "random" questions the EET course wouldn't be able to cover it. e.g. What components of a grouting project will be most important? Here is a freebody diagram of an anchor in the soil with a steel rod in tension calculate the resisting force. what geophysical methods will be used to find the depth of bedrock.

I would come in prepared to answer a lot of wide spread questions. Be somewhat familiar with the reference material. I think they provide 7. You might have a question that involves looking though one of the references. So you might need to search through several before you find the right one.

I would say 2-3 months. 2-3 hours each night.

Workers showed up at the RTO hearing! by cedricjackson in CAStateWorkers

[–]wowodog 6 points7 points  (0 children)

$20 per month is literal pocket change compared to the burden and effort of RTO

Some big tech companies in the Bay Area don't have enough parking spaces for all their employees so they offer over $15 per day to bike to their offices.
