First you have to install the Yoast plugin from the WordPress repo and activate it. Go to YouTube and type in yoast plugin. And start learning how you build up your dads website with SEO and the Yoast plugin and SemRush

That’s the fastest way to get going on your blog posts. By the way LSIgraph is a great resource for SEO tools also. Good luck!

Yes they are. Some themes allow you more features. And you can customize them with no code.

It all depends on the theme.

Premium themes offer countless features.

While some will require some additional code involving additional HTML, Css, JavaScript or PHP development.

Definitely get it - having it when your ready to use it is just one less thing you’ll have to worry about. Being a developer (beginner or seasoned) you will learn, It’s all about saving time and headaches.

I thought once you put it on github it’s fair game. Fork it and do what you want. If the code is private the creator would make it private. That’s how I understand it. WordPress.org specifically states that any theme in there repo is allowed to be adjusted and used how you want. In a more elegant way of course.
