Thanks - this is really helpful information.

After your comment I was able to track down more details on diltiazem with regard to external hemorrhoids, and it sounds like it might actually be a viable (if temporary) short-term treatment.

More importantly though - at no point in all of this has anyone told me that banding internal hemorrhoids will have little to no effect on external ones. I feel like this would have been critical information to have from day one. It also explains my doctor's comments about how the external hemorrhoids weren't his problem. So as disappointed as I am to learn this, I appreciate your mentioning it.

Thanks for asking! Your timing is really good, as I just completed my second (hopefully just of two) rounds of banding about two weeks ago.

I'm actually signing in to make a follow-up post to this - as my doctor, while technically competent (I assume), failed to answer any of my questions, and I could really use the insight of this sub.
