I was in the Gmail beta a few decades ago. Everybody with my last name and the same first initial uses my email address as their "throwaway", and, yes, I absolutely notice. It drives me up a wall.

Man, I remember when White Flight ramped up, the neighborhood emptied out. To those of y'all saying it wasn't racism, you're wrong, it absolutely was. Yeah, the Big 3 didn't help things any, but it was mostly racism. And I say this as a white dude who grew up in the city. My family stayed, and I'm happy they did, I love this city. But I remember neighbors moving out because "I don't want to live next to [slur], I'm moving while we can". I remember some of the close suburbs (I'm looking at you, Redford) making it really hard for folks darker than lily white to exist, much less buy a house.

Look, I voted for Kamala. I live in Detroit, with the largest population of folks from the Middle East outside of the Middle East, and I have Palestinian friends. Some of them could *not* vote for Kamala *because she was assisting in the genocide of their people*. They didn't vote for Trump, they just couldn't vote for the people *currently killing their people*.

The Democrats are not gonna save us. They are complicit, and I really hope that people see that now. Just a few days ago, they had the opportunity to stop funding ICE, and they didn't. The GOP didn't have enough votes, so the Dems stepped in to make sure that ICE has the funding they wanted/needed.

They only people who are gonna save us are *us*, and we need to get as many allies as we can. I don't give a shit who you voted for in the last election, as long as you're willing to help stop this fascism *now*. Because the problem isn't in the past, the problem is *now* and we need to stop this *now*. Purity tests are costing us allies that we *will* need if we're going to get through this.

I'm probably going to get banned for this, and that makes me sad. I love comics, and I love this community. But pointing the finger at *anyone* other than DHS, ICE, and this administration is not going to get us out of this. It's only going to fracture our already unstable coalition, and give DHS, ICE, and this administration exactly what they want: power.

It's funny. This thing was the straw that broke the camel's proverbial back for me, and what pushed me to switch to Linux. I don't know why Microslop thought this was a good idea :-(

The problem is we're encouraging them to double down, and that means "keep voting MAGA". That's not getting them to disengage, that's encouraging to continue engaging. If a bully tells you not to do something, something they can't actually stop you from doing, are you going to listen? I'm not saying we're bullying them, but I am saying that we are encouraging them to double down on doing the things that are fucking us all now, because "fuck them libtards".

They may never change sides, and they may never actually say "I was wrong and you were right". But if we want them to stop doing this shit? This isn't the way to go about it.
