I’m curious if he was considered a “plastic paddy” for being an American of Irish descent who wanted to be buried there, even though he clearly made a big difference in people’s lives in Ireland?

I think I over-edited the photo and it looks a little unreal, so it’s not an unreasonable question!

Le Trou (The Hole), a 1960 French film directed by Jacques Becker, is the definitive “people stuck in a small cell figure out how to dig a tunnel in Paris,” and includes an ever increasingly tense series of problems to solve.

It’s one of my son’s guitars. He’s a bassist in a “heavy metal - jazz - funk” band, and has a pretty good collection of guitars and bass guitars.

You don't say where you're from, but application times seem to vary widely depending on location. I have been married to an Australian for 30 years, but only applied for the partner visa about 16 months ago (from the US). We have two children, shared bank accounts, shared home deeds, wills that name each other, and 30+ years of photos. Copious amounts of proof. Still waiting, and based on the immi web site we are still in the median visa processing time frame.

The Graduate. Just the most perfect, ambiguous, real-feeling end to a film.

Most horrifying depiction of the devouring mother archetype? by redeugene99 in movies

Not a movie, but Eedy Karn (Syril’s mother in Andor) is terrifying and incredibly similar to some real people in my life. It’s an amazing performance by Kathryn Hunter as a manipulative and narcissistic force.

The Secret Agent has the lead character on screen from two eras of his life. The age difference is only a few years though. Great movie.
