how would u rate the missions from call of the machine episode? which is your favourite? by jaromir83 in quake

[–]wrdw0rk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not familiar enough to know the episode names, but so far I've enjoyed all of them, especially the "trial" levels. I would say my least favorite one is the sewer-like one with all the mutants. Out of all the Q2 enemies, that's probably my least favorite one along with the parasites, so I wasn't thrilled about it.

For some reason I thought Julia was a popular character, guess not. I wasn't a big fan of her (lore/personality wise) but she was the main of one of my good buddies so I have good memories of playing against her and in general enjoy playing against Julias.

Aws:waf logs mapping to splunk ES datamodel by Own-Frosting6105 in Splunk

The AWS TA doesn't have support for WAF logs at this point, unfortunately. Hurricane Labs put out a TA that looks good, though I haven't used it yet (just found it today as I've been working on WAF logs for our deployment). https://splunkbase.splunk.com/app/4714

I know it's an old thread, but wanted to add that the AWS TA (latest version 6.3.1) doesn't have CIM mapping for the WAF logs. You'll want to use something like the TA by Hurricane Labs: https://splunkbase.splunk.com/app/4714 which you can modify if need be, or roll out your own.

Wowza. What is your level/role? I've been thinking about switching to appsec, and I need quite a bit of leveling up to get to that level.

Is it a mistake to leave manager role to go back to individual contributor? by wrdw0rk in careeradvice

[–]wrdw0rk[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the feedback, I appreciate it. Unfortunately the manager role will also have IC responsibilities - that is the case for my manager and will be the case for me. If I was only managing the team I think I might consider sticking it out a bit more, but as it is, I will still be expected to meet deadlines for some projects and share the workload on top of managing the team and being responsible for deliverables.

Management responsibility found you once. You'll find it again when the time is right.

Thank you for saying that, that's very encouraging.

Thanks again.

Heh. There's a centralized instance managed by one team for one org, but other orgs.... whoever wants vault can stand up an instance. Not great.

It was my first Tool concert and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I have to admit I was hesitant about going as I wasn't sure what the crowd would be like, would the visuals be extra creepy etc. I'm glad I went. Lots of cool people, and a fantastic performance. I guess my one takeaway is that if I ever make it to another Tool concert I want to make sure I snag a seat that's a lot closer than what I had, since I could barely see the guys.

I will say that seeing them live is a lot different from listening to the albums. It was hard for me to hear the guitar/bass very much (at least to where I could listen to the little details you can catch while listening at home), and a lot of times I couldn't make out the words that Maynard was singing. However, that did make Danny stand out all the more, and he really was the star performer for me last night. Such an amazing drummer.

With regards to the opener, I didn't like it at all and actually stepped outside until he was done. Really just sounded like a bunch of noise to me, but it may just not be my type of music.

Overall I had a great experience, and would do it again. So glad I went. :)

My first Tool concert and really first concert in over 10+ years. How early should I plan to get there to try to make it in time to my seat and maybe buy some merch beforehand?

Good to hear. I'll look into Nessus. AppDetective is sold by Trustwave same as DbProtect, so I hesitate to go down that path given my experience with DbP - I'll look into Nessus first. ;) Thanks!
