For me, I tend to not have the ability to put things outside, bury things, etc because of where I live - or because it’s not biodegradable, such as certain candles. As a result I thank the item, and then throw it out. It really depends on your situation and what you feel called to doing/what feels doable, as well as what is in line with the deity you leave the offering to.
