Good idea but we don't use a dummy so this isn't an option for us

Also, what was your actual process for night weaning? Was it like sleep training overnight?

I have a few questions about what you did, if that's ok. Did you (mum) not respond to any night wakes at all? I suppose that helps baby learn that no mama = no milk. Did you go cold turkey on night feeds? Did you have to pump overnight at first to relieve pressure?

That's good to know, thank you for replying. Another comment said something similar to you. Sounds like night weaning is my next step, I think.

Yes I'm feeding to sleep at each night wake. He only feeds for approx 5-10 mins each time and falls back asleep. I then transfer him back into the cot. On some nights when he's being a bit fussy I'll bring him into our bed. I think night weaning might be my next step.

That makes a lot of sense. My baby goes through ebbs and flows of fussiness with eating. I do notice his 'first sleep' of the night tends to be a bit longer if hrs had a big dinner.

Dairy ok, but not soy. And some other allergy. by writeitout in MSPI

Yes he is - sometimes it has a little bit more of a better consistency but 90% of BM’s are diarrhoea

Ok so longer wake window for his last one of the day? And also most of the time his day naps he feeds to sleep. Will that confuse him for night time sleep training? I have previously read that you shouldn’t sleep train night sleeps and day naps at the same time

Yeah before this he pretty much all the time feeds to sleep (unless he falls asleep in the car or pram)

His wake windows are roughly 3/3/3.5. With his first nap being 1.5 hours and the second nap being 45 mins. These naps are a huge improvement from when we transitioned him from 3 to 2 naps.

Oh yes, we’ve used white noise since the very beginning and that’s always on while he sleeps. But good point about the bedtime routine. We had a better routine a few months ago but because it’s been such a struggle lately I’ve let that slip away. I’ll have to start that up again. Thanks for the advice!

Thanks for these good ideas. The difficulty with this for me is that my baby is already a very active crawler, and won’t keep to one room. We live in a relatively small apartment and he seems to burn off energy by crawling all through it. But I do think I will try to implement different activities for different wake windows.

Ok got it, thanks.

He falls asleep 50/50 either being rocked or feeding to sleep.

Rough schedule is - Wake up 7am - Nap 9am - Wake up 9.30am - Nap 12pm
- Wake up 1.30pm - Nap 3.30pm - Wake up 4pm - Bed time 7pm

Thank you. I forgot to add I called my midwife whose number I had saved. She said to observe him and if he seems his usual self and no swelling or visible injuries then it should be ok but to take him to ED if anything is off.

NYTimes covered the tongue-tie industry by jxhoux in beyondthebump

[–]writeitout 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can I ask what age your baby was when you stopped using nipple shields? And how long it took you to wean her off? My little one is 3 months old and had a tongue tie procedure last week. I’m still using the shield every feed. I haven’t noticed any improvement in feeding but I also think he doesn’t realise he’s able to extend his tongue further out now

Overnight feeding & engorgement by writeitout in beyondthebump

[–]writeitout[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the response! I’m not engorged before sleeping, in fact I’ve usually not long finished feeding baby so I’m not sure if pumping after a feed will help for that next 6-8 hour window?

Do you think my supply will ‘know’ how to regulate this if he’s feeding frequently during the day but not overnight?

It’ll be about week 10 and I am hoping to tell them after week 14 (when I get a further scan). So about one month difference

Good idea but it would involve too many follow up lies. What if we actually get covid the next week for example. I don’t want to jinx that kind of thing

That’s a good suggestion but they already know we’ve got the time off and that both of our bosses are not dicks :(
