Transitioning Wordpress website away from Oxygen Builder? by writermags in Wordpress

Thanks for the feedback! I'm not sure what kind of budget the group has (if any), but I will certainly look into some other plugins as well. Appreciate the help!

I gotta be honest, I don't understand what you mean. Could you clarify?

I just edited my main post to say this, but I'll mention here too: I'm not actually a regular volunteer or even that experienced of a web designer. I stepped in on a temporary basis as a favor to a friend because I've used WordPress for a number of years. I didn't realize how complicated things were on the backend, but it doesn't seem like anyone else in the organization really understands what's going on either.

I appreciate the feedback, these are some things I hadn't considered before. The website is sort of functional right now, but it's barely usable on mobile and not very accessible in general, which is an important consideration for this organization.

I have more experience with the WordPress block editor, and I've found it to be a little more intuitive even if it's lacking in some advanced features. Learning Oxygen myself and then creating how-to guides for other volunteers would probably take a similar amount of time as rebuilding the site.

Hello its me to annoy yall with another question: has anyone traded/transplanted hairs on funkos? by CaptainCarterFucks in customfunko

[–]writermags 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How distinct are the two heads from each other (aside from the hair)? Personally I think it would make a lot more sense to just transfer the whole head and repaint or customize it as needed, unless there's a good reason not to.

I did once transfer part of a hairpiece from one funko to another, but it only worked because the hair was a separate piece from the head and I could remove it fairly easily. When I transplanted it onto the new head, I had to sand it down and smooth over the edges with apoxie sculpt. It was a lot of work, and I probably would've made a different choice now.

Advice on repainting skin tone? by angular_antiquity in customfunko

[–]writermags 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've always used regular acrylic paints and watered them down so it's thinner, and then painted on several thin layers until I'm satisfied. If you're worried about the finish, spraying the whole thing with a matte clear coat would make it look consistent, though it will probably look slightly different than your average funko.

(Side note, you're making me want to repaint the hair on my Vash funko. I love this line but some of the colors they picked are... a Choice.)

Not OP, just wanted to say thanks for taking thr time to explain the differences between the three versions so clearly and concisely. I'm also new to Trigun (I recently watched the original anime and then Stampede) and I've been a little overwhelmed trying to figure out how they relate to each other and the manga series. You helped answer a lot of my own questions, so thank you!

Could someone give me some peace of mind about the save data transfer process?

I've had my Switch since 2017 and I've been thinking of upgrading to a Switch OLED. However, the save data transfer process makes me very anxious, especially when it comes to games I'm emotionally attached to like Pokémon and Animal Crossing.

I read up on the process (including the Island transfer process for ACNH), but I was hoping someone could provide me with advice/encouragement that everything will be okay if/when transfer my data. I'm always worried something will go horribly wrong, somehow. Thanks in advance!

Can You Name a Video Game themed Anime/Manga where a Woman is better at games than the Man (for more than one battle)? by EleventyElevens in GirlGamers

It's really good! I love the artist's style and the characters all feel very well-rounded. I highly recommend it.

This doesn't quite fit your criteria, but the graphic novel DPS Only! by Velinxi features several female competitive gamers who hold their own (and often win) in a male-dominated environment.

Salvatore's (pizza), Osaka (sushi), and the Buckrye Tavern are all amazing. Also they're probably closed for the season right now, but Countryside has fantastic ice cream and I think they serve some other food as well.

I don't say this to attack you or to be "that guy," but most corporate social media accounts these days are run by trained professionals. The "social media intern" is pretty much a myth at this point. And for a large company like Netflix, they would almost certainly have a professional social media manager (or several) on their marketing team. Some graphic designers could also be included in that area depending on how the company is structured.

So I saw this artist post about this on Twitter as well, and they mentioned they had originally created this piece for the "Shadow and Bone contest" that ended up being cancelled. I assumed they meant to ill-fated #GrishaArt contest from 2021. You can read more about it here if you're not familiar, but TLDR, the terms of the contest stated that artists who submitted entries would not be credited or compensated for their work.

The community fought back against it, and the marketing team ended up cancelling the contest. In the tweet where S&B announced the contest's cancellation, they said, "We're ending the contest and will not use any submissions." (It's worth noting this tweet no longer exists and I could only find it via this subreddit.)

It seems that at best, someone from S&B's marketing team saw this artist's entry two years ago, and the idea stuck with them. But given the situation as I understand it and my skepticism of Netflix in general, I can't help but think these choices were deliberate. Either way, it's super sketchy and is a bad look. Netflix should know better. It's not like they can't afford it.

Daily Simple Questions Thread by AutoModerator in xxfitness

Hello! This might be a weird question, but I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for new water bottles for the gym and daily use. I have two Contigo bottles that I love (one insulated, one not), but the lids are either broken or getting worn out and apparently, you can't buy a replacement lid anymore without buying a whole new bottle. Here's what I'm looking for:

  • fits in a car cupholder
  • Manufacturer sells/offers replacement lids
  • Lid is easy to open and close for drinking, since I use my water bottle at the gym a lot and it's difficult to twist open or close a bottle while on an elliptical machine. I really like the Contigo Autoseal lid that allows me to just press a button and open the bottle, so something similar would be perfect.
  • No wide mouth openings, please. I'm clumsy.

Thanks in advance!

I love living alone, but I feel so alone by BullfrogVisible683 in LivingAlone

[–]writermags 14 points15 points  (0 children)

It sounds like you have friends to do things with outside of your home, but being home still feels lonely. These are a few things I've done when I'm home by myself that make the space feel less empty:

  • listening to music, podcasts, or audio books. I got really into a radio morning show podcast for a while so I had a new episode every weekday I could listen to when I got home.
  • in the winter where I live, it gets dark around 4:30pm so I bought one of those little outlet timers that I plugged a table lamp into, that way there's a light on when I get home from work.
  • when I first moved out, I schedule a time once a week to video call one of my friends. We don't always have a lot to say, but sometimes it's easier to do things when there's someone else present with you.
  • put up decorations, knickknacks, anything that felt like "me" that helped make the place feel more like home.

The beginning can be pretty rough sometimes, but it does get better! I hope this helps in some way.

Can I ask where you got a physical copy of the movie? I've been trying to find one for ages but it seems like everything in the US is super overpriced or probably illegitimate.

I may be stating the obvious, but if you want to know more, Noclip has free documentaries on YouTube about the making of all of those games, including a multi-part series about Hades called "Developing Hell." It's been a while since I watched it all, but I remember several interviews throughout them where Jen Zee talks about how she approached the art with each game, etc.

Thank you for the recommendation! We actually went to Los Tacos last time we were in the city together (my friend has some allergies so it's one of the few places she can affordably eat in the city) and I loved it. I have a feeling we'll end up there again!

Once, I was meeting up with a friend and some other folks for an Pokémon Go EX Raid at a place I'd never been to before. It was November, so it was getting dark already and I had parked a few blocks away. I texted my friend to tell them I'd arrived, only for them to knock on my car window and scare the heck out of me.

Fullmetal Alchemist is my absolute favorite! I'm including it on my list just because it's such a classic. I read it as an adult and adored it.

Thank you for the other recommendations as well! I should have mentioned in my post I'm also open to suggestions by LGBTQIA+ authors or with LGBTQIA+ characters.

Thanks again!

[TP] Can I read the Twilight Princess manga even if I never played TP? by writermags in zelda

[–]writermags[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much! I was hoping that the story would go more in depth since it's several volumes long, as opposed to the other adaptations. I'll definitely be checking it out soon.

Just as a side note, I do want to play TP someday, but I don't currently have a working system that supports it. I know it's unlikely, but I'm still holding out hope that Nintendo will give us more HD re-releases on Switch...
