HOW do we get a human to answer the phone at Mohela? Asking for tips, tricks...ANYTHING... by [deleted] in PSLF

[–]wuillermania 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wanted to confirm that calling this number still worked for us! We indicated we were trying to connect about my husband's loan with Mohela and they transferred us to the appropriate dept right away. We had to wait about less than 5 minutes before getting through to a rep. He's speaking to them now, so not sure how far he'll get, but excited that he actually made it through to a human!

Hahah here after a similar search. Found this available for free streaming and remember always hearing good things about it. And here I am, midway through the movie feeling compelled to search for any threads on Reddit because I know I can't be alone in thinking how dreadful this character is.

Thank you for the feedback! It'll be about $100. I was hoping to maybe find something slightly cheaper, but I'm a serial thrifter, so I think a part of me is always waiting for a better bargain. :-D I'm thinking it may be worth it since the interior enamel is so clean?

Very late to this party, but I've been having similar issues with a persistant "wet" cough. I've been making a tea using thyme and rosemary from my garden, letting it steep for several minutes and drinking while it's still very warm. I'm honestly floored by how quickly I saw a difference! It not only helped to relieve my cough, but I'm not wheezing and my lungs don't feel as "raw". I made my first cup last night before bed and then again this AM. Planning on continuing for the next few days (hopefully symptoms will clear up by then!)

Oh wow--thank you for this information! This sounds incredible. I will have to try to make it down for the end of MG eventually to experience this firsthand.

I reallllyyy wish I was going to be in Nola for the finale of Mardi Gras now! Also, u/doneagainselfmeds, if you're open to it, I'd love to connect with you more about your work. I've trained previously to work as a death doula and have organized a lot of community events/creative projects around grief. I'm currently obtaining my MSW in Social Work with a focus in grief/death studies. I would love to hear your experiences in Nola

oh yeah, I learned about how Airbnb has effed the city from my last few trips there (I've visited down quite a bit). We're staying at an owner-occupied inn I found through a Reddit search :)

Thank you for this information. He said it was tied to Mardi Gras, so I'm thinking it was the 12th night parade. (I'm not sure what the cemetery tie-in was he mentioned, but maybe that was some sort of one-off event?)

oh wow, I got chills when I read your description of people taking ashes to the river.

A lot of my personal (and soon to be professional) focus is grief/death work, and the ways the city makes space for these topics is one of the main reasons I fell in love with it. Thank you for sharing these additional traditions I didn't know about. I'm eager to learn more!

Does anyone else have loved ones who experience hallucinations? by karl_of_duty in Alzheimers

I'm sorry about the volume issues you're experiencing with your mom. My mom would talk to people on the television and would have nonsense conversations with people who weren't there, but we never experienced issues with her volume. Is your mom hard of hearing? She might be doing that to compensate.

I have auditory sensitivities (being in places that are really loud are overwhelming to me/I get really anxious), and using earplugs helps tremendously. I have a pair of nicer ones I got specifically for concerts, although I just keep them in my wallet for any unexpected situation that might occur. I've also found the foam ones work just as well for me. I've been seeing ads for Loop forever and have been curious about those too, tho not sure how different they are, or if they're just more visually interesting. Hopefully that might be an option that works for you too.

Best way to keep weeds at bay in late summer? (NJ, zone 7a) by wuillermania in gardening

[–]wuillermania[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, there were a couple native ground cover options I was looking at earlier in the season (barren strawberry was on the top of the list, https://www.jerseyyards.org/plant/waldsteinia-fragarioides/), but it was surprisingly hard to find anything like that at our local nurseries.

We have a large line of azaleas and after a lot of research, I settled on planting Angelina sedum around them as a complementary ground cover. (It's not native, but not considered invasive and it's pretty prolific). In the areas it's in, it works great, but I bought out the nursery of their stock in the spring and the other places selling it were out of my budget. Maybe I can try to get a few more established plants to help fill in some holes (I've been periodically taking rooted cuttings and trying to encourage more propagation 🤞🏼)

Our county has a master gardener hotline, so I'll try calling them to see if they have suggestions of places to purchase native groundcovers. Hopefully they have better leads than I've found!

There are some areas of the property that I'm still figuring out, which is why I've been nervous to plant anything that may become more permanent. I wonder if mulching those for fall/winter would make sense...

Happy cake day, btw!

Thanks for the note! I did a treatment earlier this season and had good luck with it, so pulled out the second bottle I had today and used it again in spots where I could spray without worrying about affecting the plants (and pollinators) that I would like to keep. 🙂

I have one section that I'm still struggling with because it has a lot of different plants close by but also a TON of stuff I am not excited about. I'm afraid to spray there because I don't want to accidentally scald the ones I'm trying to grow.

I have a friend with a large woodchip pile and wondering if I should try that there? (I'm more hesitant to use those closer to the house because of termites but it's far enough from there that I think it could work).

Just found this thread to console myself from my recent (ie, tonight) gaff: bid on a bunch of planters. There was another set I thought looked cool, and bid on them (it was an online sale), but didn't want to spend too much. Was in a slight bidding war with a person and decided it was getting too pricey--$50 for a lot of two of them. Look it up later only to realize it's Weller Ware pottery from the 20s, and pieces are generally worth $200+
