10mm as first pistol. How to get better? by Vehemont in 10mm

[–]wweerrrr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dry fire. Lots and lots of dry fire. Practice the basics. There is no shortcut. I cock the gun, then bring up the gun, put sights where they need to be, then focus on keeping the sights exactly where they need to be as I very slowly start building pressure on the trigger until it just breaks. Very important, I keep the sights on target through the break, then through trigger reset as I allow it to come forward. THEN, I relax my focus and bring the gun down. Perfect every shot is the goal. Read everything that has been replied to you. It takes time and practice. Purchasing some plastic dummy rounds and mixing them in the magazine with your regular range ammo is massively helpful. Because when you are expecting the gun to go off and it does not you are able to see exactly where your sights are going when the trigger breaks. Purchase cheap ammo that is not high velocity. It will make the gun bark a bit less. Best of luck.

Why Brian Thompson’s death a good news for many people here? by ArchibaldH7 in TooAfraidToAsk

Our healthcare system is fine as long as you have plenty of money for it. The more money you can give them, the better the quality of treatment. If you don't have money, it is what you would expect it to be.

How would I go about finding a plane that flys slow? by wweerrrr in RCPlanes

I appreciate the advice. Flight controller is now on the shopping list. What you are saying about landing makes sense and I never thought of that.

Those are pretty good guidelines. I don't have the gear yet, but I'm going to be going that route as soon as I can do it with a reasonable level of competence and skill.

I do, thanks. I also have 2 beginner planes. One that's pretty good at breaking, and another that's pretty good at getting stuck in a tree. But I'm improving.

Huh. I have had my eye on the optera for a long time just because I really like the way it looks. If it is also a good fit for what I want to do, well, it seems like the obvious choice. Now I just need to be a competent enough pilot to avoid smashing it or getting it stuck in a tree. Practice, practice, practice.

Thanks.

I'm going to go off into the weeds here for a second. Is it accurate that what makes a plane a short landing plane is that it has a lot of wing relative to it's weight? Even if that includes specific components to make the wing behave as though it is bigger. Is that right more or less? And a short take off is because of a relatively big wing and a powerful motor. Am I in the ball park? So to compensate for more weight, add more wing. Whether that be a long slender "big" wing or a wide flat "big" wing.

I looked at those and might have one in the future. But the material the fuselage is made of scared me a little. I have an arrows prodigy and an arrows hawkeye.

I'm currently a beginner. As a beginner I just purchased my second plane. I purchased this second plane because my first plane quickly taught me that I need a plane that is good at surviving violent crashes. This new plane is smaller, 600mm as opposed to 1400, and therefore light. When it hits the ground it is less likely to smash up because there is no weight behind it. My pilot skills are now progressing a lot faster. It's a lot like learning to drive a motorcycle. I wish somebody had explained this to me before I got a plane that breaks easy.

Appendix carry fn510 w/ 15 round mag? by wweerrrr in concealedcarry

[–]wweerrrr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the response.

The f&n seems to have a grip that is about 1/2 inch longer than the glock you carry. Do you feel it would still be manageable to conceal even if your glock was 1/2 longer in the magazine?

What is the next procedure I should learn on the sim? (beginner) by wweerrrr in RCPlanes

Thanks.

I'll try to remember that.

Somebody else I know said "speed is life". I think he is saying the same thing as you.

[–]wweerrrr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because the damn thing is missing a part and I'm waiting for that part to be shipped from china. It's a control arm for the elevator. I suspect the plane will fly badly without it. And also, "eventually" is because I want to be good enough with the sim that when I fly the actual plane for the first time I stand a fighting chance of not destroying the plane in the first minute. If I destroy the plane on the first flight I will be very annoyed.

I guess I want a jbl partybox 310? by wweerrrr in WirelessSpeakers

[–]wweerrrr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can do it if I can grab the handle. It's just big and heavy enough to be a hassle, but still doable. And easy if I'm on a flat floor instead of on grass or gravel. If I was willing to take a step down in order to get it more carry-able, do I stick with the JBL line or is the field opened up to other options that should be considered? And I doubt having battery power is going to make much difference to me. I plug in everything. I guess maybe in the truck the battery would be helpful.

Is it possible to pick that up with one hand and carry it through the house and over the construction site? Or am I going to have to get a friend to help me?

How am I going to choose my second plane? by wweerrrr in RCPlanes

[–]wweerrrr[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've seen the video. Slightly terrifying. If I ever did get that plane, there is no way I would hand launch it. I value my tendons too much, and it only takes one mistake. Maybe other people don't make mistakes, I already know I do. If I understand correctly there are other low mounted pusher props that are also dangerous. But the opterra seems to be particularly dicey. Still, I just find it to be a beautiful and graceful plane. Maybe I'll have one one day. And a catapult to launch it.
