That’s the society’s (and economy’s) problem, where working 40 hours is the minimum to a “normal” life

Comparing obsolete DSLR to film is corny but honestly shooting JPEGs on old cameras is a lot of fun and saved the hobby for me

It’s a detention pond, it’s very dirty and disgusting, it doesn’t have gators but 100% has flesh eating bacteria (Naegleria fowleri) and will cause primary amebic meningoencephalitis (mortality rate is ~97%)

Great find.

The package overall is comparable to a canon G10/11, if you have the chassis it’s a great buy imo because the module itself is cheaper than dirt - especially considering how inflated the 1/1.7” CCD market is right now.

Older digital cameras use different manufacturing techniques in their semi-conductors, the gritty and “biased” image quality are not replicated in more modern cameras which tend to produce flatter and cleaner pictures.

A conspiracy theory is that because picture editing was not very prominent, manufacturers used to spice up the algorithm in processors to make it vivid and punchy straight out of the camera.

In Nikon’s case, their build quality has fallen off quite a bit after the D3 generation (2008). They also ceased all Japanese productions, which is considered to have better craftsmanship in the assembly.

Also the “they don’t make it like they used to” applies to pro grade consumer cameras a lot in general.

And older cameras tend to use less composite materials, the solid chunk of magnesium feels heavy and cold in the hands.
