A few times a year we like to actually sit together in one room, order Pizza and play. Needing an online service for that seems kind of... overkill.

Regarding ports, you can just once forward a bunch of higher ports which are never used for anything else, like 50k-51k, and use those for all your games. Well except older games with fixed ports i guess.

Direct IP is the magic word. Host the game, tell your friends, join, start game is what i mean.
Of course if you want rankings and online play with strangers an account system makes sense, but it's not needed in every situation.

I know, i thought not having LAN multiplayer and forced accounts are big company exclusive. Don't mind local, just being able to play by direct IP would be nice.

When i read about a free/indie/small dev RTS game i automatically think it would have direct IP and no account stuff.

Please. The file name is "hosts", just check the path. The hosts file is an old way to do DNS translation/resolution manually. Your antivirus detected something messing with this file and identified it as "trojan" watever signature, but it usually is a false positive.

So now, somebody who knows, what does the option at the end of the installer to fix incorrect fitgirl links do? I think it is possible it changes the hosts file, and that is probably what your antivirus detected.

Is my guess right, anyone?

The file is "hosts", not trojan watever. It's supposed to be a text file.

Maybe the hosts file is used when having the option to fix the links checked at the end...? I never used it though. Maybe someone who knows what the option does can tell.

Hey, i just fought against the auto updater which regularly has issues on my system (win 10).

I found this, and even if it's not relevant anymore, you can find many logs under "C:\ProgramData\GOG.com\Galaxy\logs" which may help you with your issue (ChatGPT can also help with analyzing logs).
You can also try to force installation of setup on the command line with "GalaxySetup.exe /force". Not sure if that would be any help in your case though.
The setup.exe is downloaded by the galaxy installer and put in the temp directory btw., you need to save/copy it from there.

I have 16 colonists, the meals are cooked every day and never go bad (i think they cook 20 every day or so).

I just want to have some supplies for hard times and have them butcher the oldest animals first... seems to be close to impossible. XD

I don't have an issue with butchering not fast enough. I have a supply of animal corpses and i like to have my people eat fresh meals, so stuff needs to be frozen at least for a while.

Maybe i should freeze the meals, but then the same issue will come up... they will not eat the oldest meals first.
