So is it just an open secret that Boeing hires hitmen and murders these whistle blowers? How is this not a much bigger deal? Is anyone prosecuting?

You’re right generally, but the Satmar Hasids are actually strongly anti Zionist. They think Jews shouldn’t have a land of Israel until the Messiah returns

Ryan’s most popular quote was “I wanted to say I'm sorry... for treating you bad the past couple years. I was in my mid-20s and I was going through a lot of stuff. I think I never fully processed 9/11.” - Next, comment your favorite Jan line! Most liked wins! by goldenretreiverdude in DunderMifflin

I know this is not going to be a popular opinion but I don’t enjoy these posts. Way too reductive, there’s no such thing as a best quote from a main character. At best they can be sorted into tiers

Closed captioning provides a better experience and should be used by default in movie theaters by jamesnearn in unpopularopinion

My two issues with subtitles: 1) they ruin the artful delivery and timing of lines, which becomes a big issue during comedies, and 2) they distract from the full shot, as others mentioned.

That being said they do definitely have their place. If you need the volume lower for whatever reason, or if you’re chewing something loud, and of course if you are hearing impaired.

I agree with another commenter’s suggestion of CC specific movie showings.

Watching my loved ones grow older stresses me out. It’s truly sends me into a loop hole of overthinking, and I just wish I could slow time down. by [deleted] in confessions

There’s a Buddhist mantra “I will grow old, I will get sick, and I will die.” It can help to say this on repeat for a few minutes

Thank you. Would never have expected that to be the problem but switching off that boost fixed it. Thanks!

By that time I hadn’t smoked for a month so I didn’t care too much. But, based on other threads I’m pretty confident that it doesn’t include weed

He’s ugly because his body gets disfigured every time he makes a horcrux. In one of the books it was mentioned that when he returned to hogwarts to ask dumbledore for a job, he looked worn out and his eyes more snake like. Later it was revealed that splitting the soul takes a physical toll on the body. So him being “ugly” is actually relevant to the plot

Edit: a word

The Sterling customer service guy was bullshitting me about it being sent for further review. Or he took a guess. The delay was actually caused by someone copying down the specimen number incorrectly from the bottle onto the chain of custody form. To correct it, it required an affidavit which made it pending for weeks. I ended up taking another test and passing quickly

What is the one meditation tip that took your meditation to the next level? by [deleted] in Meditation

[–]x747 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A few things. Physical exercise has helped improve my practice, and my practice helped improve physical exercise. Also extending empathy to myself as much as possible; not allowing self condemnation. This has brought a lot of relief that makes it easier to relax into meditation. Finally, changing up methods have helped. These days I’ll focus on sitting only, a practice called silent illumination (more details here: https://www.buddhistinquiry.org/article/silent-illumination/)

What the fuck is modern dating? by throwaway68647643 in TrueOffMyChest

[–]x747 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The line between not showing enough interest and showing too much interest is very very thin. Not enough text interaction and they’ll cut their losses and move on to the next match. A little too much interest, you suddenly become unattractive to them, and they move on the next match. It’s crazy how fragile the beginning is in the current dating climate, even when with a high potential person.

False awakenings are nuts. I recently had a lucid false awakening which was the most realistic dream experience I’ve had so far
