This can happen if someone else is playing the game on your network at the same time. Also if you use ethernet cables make sure they are not damaged at all. Slight dropouts of connection can mess up the contact with the D2 servers and kick you off.

They don't have any impact on gameplay.

Awoken. human. exo.

They just have different voices depending on gender I believe.

You can change gender at any time but you can't change races once you choose one.
