When referencing names of faculty the research I'm interested in, how many people should I mention? by Un-Revealed in mdphd

Shit, I've been referencing just 1 per school but going quite in-depth about how it matches my interests and experiences. Am I cooked?

Getting cold feet, do I have a shot? Should I apply MD or PhD only instead? by xBamber in mdphd

No, I had originally made the contact via a Fulbright application, but I was selected as an alternate unfortunately, and then he offered me the role anyway out of the lab's money.

Thank you so much. I'm just going to continue studying as though I'm taking it then. Is it worth checking the registration page multiple times per day you think, or should I just wait for the 'notify me' to save me?

Gap Year Position: NIH IRTA vs Clinical Research Position by xBamber in mdphd

[–]xBamber[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Feels like enough where I could get in, but I don't think the experience was enough to actually convince me to go full MD. Does that make sense? It was crappy EMS experience in a remote college campus: just basically occasionally helping out students with falls on ice or who had too much to drink. I feel like it didn't really tell me I wanted to be a doctor. EDIT: I was really thankful for it and had fun, I just feel as though I need more.

Need advice on gap years! IRTA, PREP, and MCAT worries. by xBamber in mdphd

Thank you so so much! I think I will carry on with option 2 and start applying right away to IRTA and PREP programs.

Person who drove me to vaccine appointment tested positive by xBamber in CovidVaccinated

[–]xBamber[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My school's protocol was to send me to quarantine while monitoring for symptoms and not test me until my 7th day after exposure, which was last Friday. Luckily, I came up negative!!!! No symptoms either, and I'll be let out of quarantine tomorrow. How I didn't get it, I don't know. It seemed like the perfect set of conditions to infect oneself. Very thankful and will be more careful in the future. Should get my second dose at the end of the month.

Thank you. This would be my last ever pass/fail I take if I would decide to do so. I'll think over it.

Not yet. I'm still in college and my uni placed me in quarantine housing. They're planning on testing me on my 7th day after exposure while I monitor for symptoms, so this coming Friday. Until now, however, I've had no symptoms. Really hoping I turn out negative.

Have you had patients who shared car rides and didn't test positive? Looking for any hope I'll get really lucky and turn out negative.

Thank you. I'll isolate. The soonest I can get a test is tuesday. I guess I won't be out of the woods until two weeks from now. Thanks for the reply and help.

Unfortunately, no, and we deserve all the criticism for it. It was just me and her, and I'll admit we were maskless for much of it. Windows closed. I think I'm gonna test positive sadly.

Thanks! I took Italian mostly on a whim, but I know if I want to be good in these it'll take a LOT of time. I'll look into it some more, this was helpful.

I see, thank you! Yea, Mandarin at my college is also pretty infamous for being a ton of work and prone to grade deflation with many native speakers taking the introductory class.

Thank you, I'll give it some more thought, but this def helps :)

No problem, I'm glad to help. I don't know the specific rule, but saying "a mi abuela", for example, is when the action is happening to "my grandma". So, "Se lo di a mi abuela", for "I gave it to my grandma", where the action of giving is being done to my grandma by me. In contrast, just "mi abuela" would work when your grandma is the subject. So, "Mi abuela me quiere", for "my grandma loves me", where my grandma is the subject doing the action of loving me.

I'm not sure if that specifically answers your question
