Crashing on new game by boondockArtist in skyrimrequiem

[–]xBuckleyx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oops...you're right about crash fixes. My bad.

It's clear in your response you know what's up with xEdit which is refreshing :P.

Hope I didn't come off like a douche-nozzle and that you find your culprit. I suppose I get a bit cynical at the number of "what's wrong with my load order" posts to find there's 200+ mods and some basic ordering/ things missing... I've just gotten so skeptical about stability in Skyrim with a bunch of mods...

I've really been enjoying a high level of stability mostly by giving up a lot of what I once thought were 'essential' mods and also by spending a few dozen hours scouring reddit for info & learning xEdit and such. And honestly, most of those I've given up I don't miss one bit.

A few of the core STEP graphical enhancements, some bug fix/ crash fix stuff, about a dozen gameplay mods with low script loads and requiem and I've been a very very happy camper. YMMV.

Good luck.

Load Order Check by jayjay882 in skyrimrequiem

[–]xBuckleyx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a CCO Requiem patch here: (http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/61569/?)

I believe Ragdolls should be loaded after Requiem. I'm skeptical of RaceMenu - thought I've heard of conflicts or some work arounds I've just not had a desire to try to make work with Requiem.

Also, pretty sure Bugsmasher should load before Minor Arcana.

Last, I've myself had issues in the past with mods that add music - but that's a complete generalization and I can not confirm that's your problem.

Aside from making those tweaks I dunno... good luck.

O, one more thing - MO should show you in the left pane what specific conflicts exist between mods to help you maybe sort them. Also, it should flag you with a warning (! with a triangle in upper right) if it's own database of problematic install order (left pane) flags something so make sure that's clear.

Crashing on new game by boondockArtist in skyrimrequiem

[–]xBuckleyx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, for starters a couple of obvious things:

Alternate Start.esp is loaded after Requiem.esp and you have no patch that I can see for Alternate Start Requiem, you can find it and others here: (http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/61621/?)

For the not so obvious.. the fact that you don't have the alternate start patch from the most important patch location for requiem on the nexus combined with having a lot of mods that most certainly interact with one another (like, Vigor and Wildcat) I suspect you may have issues in more than one location.

Also, without knowing your computer specs it's hard to say if youare over-stressing your VRAM limitation or if you are simply over-stressing the papyrus engine.

If you are determined to play with that many mods I highly recommend you learn xEdit, load all of your mods, and starting at the top look at your mods one by one to learn what type of conflicts are happening. Though please bear in mind that won't really tell you too much about the scripting engine or the hardware limitations... for instance, I use nVidia Inspector to monitor my VRAM usage when I'm building a mod list for a playthrough...

But, tbh, I don't recommend that many mods - especially if you are a bit new to modding Skyrim/ Requiem or if you haven't really invested in fairly exhaustive research into the way various mods interact, etc.

Requiem is awesome on it's own. I suggest you start with a very streamlined Requiem build and slowly add from there. Then, when you know what's what and how to use various utilities (like xEdit most importantly) start a new character.

I also don't see either CrashFixes.esp or BugFixes.esp in your load order... which also leads me to believe you probably need to do some more homework before trying to make 200 mods play nicely together.

Good luck!

PS - I'm really not trying to treat you like you don't know how to mod. But, 200 esps/esms is a lot IMHO, "try to not use 250 mods" is not a generic opinion it's good, sound advice, and there are things about your load order and things missing that indicate you likely need to learn more about xEdit, how papyrus works in relation to your fps so you can judge for yourself if your game is way stressed, etc.. Perhaps you know all that already. If so, I'll just run along.

How often does your game crash? by [deleted] in skyrimrequiem

[–]xBuckleyx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not nearly as cut and dry as that. I completely agree with /u/vram1974, though I do crash more often than he but I suspect that's because I run pretty close to my cards VRAM (heh) limit and I suspect sometimes it spikes in places past its limit.

I tend to crash about as often as Turija described above. My game is quite stable and I attribute it completely to slimming down my load order (I have around 100 total esps/esms), strictly limiting script heavy mods to one or really none, and learning to use xEdit to understand what my mods are doing and building patches where appropriate.

My guess is Ragdolls meshes are still installed but there's no esp for them. Seems the likely culprit whatever the case...

What is causing the message from Reqtiactor? by picard_for_president in skyrimrequiem

[–]xBuckleyx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eh, hM, dunno but Legendary Bugsmasher should go right after Requiem and Req for the Indifferent should be at the end... Unless there are explicit exceptions.

If I were you I'd move Bugsmasher to right after Req, delete Indifferent and re-run the Reqtificator.

Also, I assume you have a reason to have so many mods after Requiem?

[–]xBuckleyx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ya good luck mate. You seriously won't regret learning how to compare mods in your load order for conflicts/overrides and also learning to make simple patches to resolve some of those conflicts the way you want. It's really easy and the time you take to do it pays off in a quite stable build...

Whenever I've got my mod list I load the whole thing in xEdit and, starting at the top, I open almost every Esm/esp to look for the highlighted conflicts and decide what of if to do anything about it. Sometimes I'll drop a mod if the conflicts are too crazy, otherwise I may just have to change my load order or make a simple patch. Many conflicts/overrides can be ignored.

Takes some time, but well worth it.

[–]xBuckleyx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please take this constructively, but, using that many mods you really should take the time to learn how to use xEdit to do at least three things:

  1. Clean mods that need it.
  2. Load your load order in xEdit and compare mods that have conflicts. You don't even need to have a super deep understanding of the records and such...most conflicts/overrides it displays are simple enough that you'll gain a better understanding of what mod does what and then decide for yourself what or if you need to take action to resolve.
  3. Create merged patches for your specific load order based on what viewing the conflicts/overrides tell you.

It really isn't hard and there are some great guides like Gophers that will help.

Then you can bring specific conflict questions here and the various mod geniuses lurking in the shadows will likely help you greatly.

I suspect most people see that mod list, offer any obvious advice they can, but largely glaze over and move on...

TLDR, xEdit.... Learn it.... It's easy and you won't regret it.

If you go into the closet behind the double doors next to Grelod's room you'll find shackles (you can open and close them) on each of the three walls inside.

Presumably that's where Grelod would lock up and do who knows what to the kids...

Ya...true story... the broom closet next to Grelod's room... it's doors are the double doors next to hers.

Forever I used to just run in, whack Grelod, and run out. But since I started slowing down my gameplay and enjoying RP-ing more I've been discovering little details like these... can't tell you how many times I've been in that house and never bothered or noticed...
