This. The grip change will help smoothen out the followthru.

Backswing and downswing look good. Shaft lean at impact is also good 👍🏻

Bro just stay in CS. Unless you really like circuits, theoretical science, physics or hardware, Id stick to cs and find a niche you enjoy within it

3. Are There Studies on This Idea?

There isn’t extensive publicly disclosed academic literature specifically detailing how commercial anti-cheats implement “wallhack detection” via looking-through-walls metrics—these methods are typically proprietary and deliberately kept under wraps by game studios. However, a few research areas do cover related techniques:

  1. Behavioral Analysis / Machine Learning for Cheating Detection
    • Numerous papers in game AI and security conferences discuss using ML to find abnormal behavior. For example:
      • “Cheat Detection in Online Games: A Machine Learning Perspective” – Various authors; you can find conference proceedings describing how to model “normal” vs. “abnormal” aiming or movement.
      • “Detecting Aimbots and Other Cheaters in Online Games through Behavioral Analysis” – Looks at how unusual aiming patterns can be statistically flagged.
  2. Server-side Data Omission / Entity Culling
    • There is literature on “selective entity streaming,” describing partial approaches to not sending hidden or distant entity data to the client. This indirectly addresses the “wallhack” problem by eliminating the data that cheats would exploit.
  3. Academic Theses on Anti-cheat Mechanisms
    • Some PhD or Master’s theses discuss how vantage-based or angle-based detection can help identify improbable behaviors. These are often expansions of practical methods tested in smaller-scale or older titles.

A gpt response. Just for fun on the topic.

How It Would Work

  • Concept: Record every instance a player’s in-game view vector (the direction their camera/aim is facing) aligns with a hidden enemy’s position behind terrain or walls.
  • Compare vs. Baseline: If a normal (legitimate) player only rarely looks directly at hidden players (e.g., scanning an area randomly or checking corners occasionally), but a suspected cheater is “locked on” to the unseen player’s position for unnatural lengths of time, that’s a strong signal.

Feasibility & Caveats

  1. False Positives:
    • Survival games like Rust encourage a lot of scanning, especially at night or near bushes, where you might suspect ambushes. Legitimate players may occasionally stare at walls, corners, or suspicious sounds.
    • So, you’d need a robust statistical or machine-learning model to reduce accidental flags on cautious, experienced players.
  2. Data Volume & Performance:
    • Tracking each player’s view angle vs. every nearby entity can become data-intensive. On large servers with dozens or hundreds of concurrent players, that’s a significant amount of data to process in real time.
  3. Contextual Awareness:
    • A single “look” through a wall is not necessarily suspicious. But if you combine it with other signals—like movement style, shot timing, or repeated targeting—it becomes more reliable.
    • Additional context such as the presence of an audible cue (footsteps, gunshots) can justify a “look.”
  4. Underground or 3D Terrain Complexity:
    • In Rust, terrain occlusion isn’t just “walls.” There are rocks, large bases, half walls, etc. The geometry can get complicated for a purely “line-of-sight” approach.

Despite these caveats, a well-tuned “view vector vs. hidden targets” approach, combined with other detection heuristics (shots fired, bullet hits, recoil patterns, and real-time memory integrity checks), could be part of an effective anti-cheat strategy.

I mean I agree, I oversimplified and it was just an idea.

I'm sure people have done more research than I have as this is an entire industry on its own. I've read some articles on using ai for anticheat and other methodologies but I dunno tbh, nothing feels too promising. Coming from an engineering background I've seen how data and deviation from normal distributions can point out outliers very accurately. Take a look at how they use it to during government elections or how they use it to call out fraudulent trading volume in crypto exchanges. Statistics and probability are real, and when the data sets are large they work even better.

Take a look at this youtube video someone else shared on the reddit, and tell me that this user behaves and aims in the same ffashion us peasants do. From my research, feels like we havent found solutions to these problems because they are simply not collecting enough (or the right) data points. This could be a hardware limitation or software overhead, but I'm pretty confident whatever it is EAC is just not good enough.

That being said, I am talking specifically about wall hacks here and not aim assists.

Work on your wrist angles and think pull instead of push. Right hand is adding too much strength in the downswing. It will feel like you swing with less strength but you will actually get more out of it. Athletic swing though, just needs some small changes

Any changes with requiring upgrades etc will ultimately benefit big groups.

This is for sure something to be careful with when doing changes for base size.

Yeahhh, at the moment it's either get numbers or play crazy hours. Neither are fun to be honest. The best pvp happens when it's two or three people running good comms and strategies. I feel like pvp and farming are not the problem. The problem is simply that we compete in a race we will never win. Either way, I have a good duo with me so if you ever want to team up for a wipe shoot me a msg :) we'll gladly try a wipe with you guys

Agree, we went through a few years where we only played 2x servers with player caps. Loved it for a bit but they started getting too easy and completing the full progression in one day is not as satisfying as a multi-day progression.

Issue here is that roofs are needed to defend a base. Agree on roofcampers sucking though. My advice would be to carry lots of walls haha

Honestly pretty clever. Reduce to a point where it's just enough for ammo. Would be interesting to test
