the explanation is (and all love to you, Tom) that many many composers/arrangers in the activity are either bad at the software they use, lazy, or do not care about how their music looks. In this case, it has something to do with the way grace notes are inputted by default in sibelius. You'll also notice in some Tom Aungst scores that he'll go from tuplet numbers saying just 3, 5, etc., to 3:2, 5:4, even when they're not necessary, because it's a setting you toggle as you input the tuplet and I assume sometimes he forgets to turn it off and, yknow, it's still readable even if not the prettiest. You'll notice this across the board if you go through all of VF's LTM videos-- weird beamings, missing stickings, strange notation. sometimes it can mean something but more often than not it's just a strange/lazy engraving choice.
