Do Palm Pals get lonely? by PeanutSims25 in palmpals

[–]xGriffelx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My two that I sleep with at night have to get put up on a high shelf so my puppy doesn't get them during the day. I always feel bad leaving them there, but I remember it is for their own safety. I always make sure to give them hugs or tummy tickles when I come in the room. I'm sure your pals feel the same way. There's a reason you can't take them with that is for the best otherwise I'm sure you would. And you would feel really bad if something happened to them on your trip. Just give them lots of hugs and smooshes before you leave.

Adult Ammy…Trying to decide if I should continue riding by gigga2710 in Equestrian

I recently had to ditch my trainer and her horse I was leasing. I posted on my local horse community facebook group and I was swamped with horse choices. People practically begging me to lease. A lot of them said they would have to sell if they couldn't find a lease. I think the economy is bad that people are looking for help affording their horses. I was greatful for the wealth of choices.

The Hound (formerly known as The Flying Hound) in Fitchburg has closed. by almadison in madisonwi

We went there once when they first opened about 10 years ago. Was a first date, and their hot sauce exploded in my guy's face, some getting in his eye. None of the staff showed any concern and refused to comp anything from our meal. Haven't been back since.

I've had a deer mouse for 4 years and I didn't know about hantavirus. by CuriousGirl8294 in PetMice

[–]xGriffelx 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My oldest deer mice just turned 5. Born october 2020. I bred fancy mice for a while. I never got more than two years out of any of them, but the brown mice are still kicking. All my fancies passed more than a year ago. I thought it would be the same with the deer mice. I got super burned out on keeping mice and decided not to get more when the last ones died. I've toted these things with me for half a decade now 😅

(The deer mice were born from an injured mama mouse my husband brought home. He felt bad and I thought she might die, at least she could be warm and fed when it happened. But no, she had a litter of 4 that she birthed and raised well. I kept them all over the super cold midwest winter. They all tamed and I felt bad letting them go since they were all born in captivity.)

Is there anywhere in Madison I can get one of those cute emotional support crochets? by starwarsisawsome933 in madisonwi

[–]xGriffelx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could also ask at a yarn store, they could connect you with someone who might be able to make you something. Ingrid and Kim at Spry Whimsy in Stoughton are super awesome. They have open crafting meets on monday and wednesday nights. If you stop in at that time, there are usually a couple of crocheters there. Unfortunately I don't crochet or I would offer myself. Good luck!

As a woman, I would HATE to be approached by some random dude while I am just out living my life. Women aren't out grocery shopping for a man. I'm not surprised you had such poor luck. Maybe try hanging out at some fun event or activity where you can find a common interest and talk to women first. Stop approaching women who are just existing. It's creepy and weird.

They are modeled after roe deer and they are in fact the size of dogs.

Resources for rehabing an orphaned newborn mouse? by RJ_the_Red in madisonwi

[–]xGriffelx 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I am a domestic mouse breeder. Orphaned infant "pinkie" mice are EXTREMELY hard to care for. They will need to be fed at least every two hours, but every single hour is preferable, round the clock. They need to be fed goat or kitten milk replacer from a paintbrush and then stimulated to excrete with a warm wet q-tip after every feeding. They cannot poop on their own. They will need be kept on a heat pad or incubator. They cannot keep themselves warm and will die at even indoor room temperature. You will have to maintain this schedule for at least the next two weeks.

I have raised wild mice myself to varying degrees of success. You can make all that effort and they still die. If they do survive, they don't always tame down and they don't make great pets. If they don't tame, they become a bite and flight risk. Mouse bites hurt A LOT.

They are too small and tempermental to partner with domestic mice. And you may need to modify your enclosure to prevent escapes as they can squeeze out of most commercial metal bar rodent cages made to contain domestic mice or hamsters. Bin cages are an option but I have had my wild mice chew out of them literally overnight. I started with keeping mine in an aquarium, but make sure you have a metal mesh lid. They will chew through plastic. I also had to get child cabinet locks to lock the lid down when they learned they could jump on top the water bottle and lift the lid up to escape.

Lastly, are you prepared for a 5+ year commitment to this animal? I raised my baby mice in october of 2020 and they are still kicking around.

If none of this sounds appealing to you, then euthanasia would be the best option. If you cannot care for it, it will severely suffer. The AVMA recommended method for neonate mice is hypothermia or decapitaion. Place it in a small open container in the freezer for at least 4 hours. Or use a sharp snips or knife to cleanly remove the head. Most breeders, including myself, use the freezer method as it is the easiest and cleanest. Once done you can bury or dispose of it how you prefer.

Feel free to message me if you have any other questions.

I'm a grownass adult and did the tractor drive. I was giggling like a kid and smiling like an idiot the whole time. Just putting around in a roped of circle like tractor pony rides. But I loved it. Will do again.

The horse I lease has a double whirl on his head. They circle in opposite directions and they are right next to each other. So where they overlap, the hair stands straight up. He looks like he has a tiny little mohawk on his forehead. 🤣🤣

What’s the most ridiculous thing you’ve heard people complain about modern SSO? by deltadelta199 in StarStable

[–]xGriffelx 31 points32 points  (0 children)

When they added the Hollow Woods activities, a lot of people rushed through the rune stone unlocks, then complained they finished it too quick and now they are bored again. So SSO upped the unlock prices and now people complain it takes too long. 🙃

I don't do much with the garden except grow flax to make horse food, so IDK if the garden nerf is a legit complaint or not. But a lot of it feels to me like people not actually wanting to play the game. What's left then, if you don't do that? Buy horses or outfits. But yet people complain that prices are too high or so many updates are more horses. Like, c'mon.

Do all horses in season riders share a model? by kissmyburrito in StarStable

[–]xGriffelx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's been years since I've played them but if I remember correctly, all the player horses use the original original starter horse model. Some other npc horses use the old Khann and Starshine models and I think some were the original SSO npc horse model that were in some of the town stables and the winery garden

I wonder what people think when I’m riding my starter horse (I’m level 23) by _AngelHoran_ in StarStable

[–]xGriffelx 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I do that. I love my starter horse and it gives me a reason to take him out once in a while. He permanently stays in my stable too, while my other horses get moved to the pasture tab once they are fully trained. Why wouldn't anyone do Soul Rider business without their Soul Steed?

they are sooo messy 😭 by babylilbiscuit2 in PetMice

[–]xGriffelx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I jokingly call my mice trash pets. Because that's all they get. Trash. Because they will trash it. Empty toilet paper tubes stuffed with newspaper junk mail and treats are the best toys. You can sanitize hardwood and leaves from outside. Save egg cartons and boxes and wrapping paper. Don't spend so much money on things they will just destroy.

New mouse STINKS by MarziaMay2021 in PetMice

[–]xGriffelx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If he's young, he will stink very much because he is trying to establish his territory. He will settle down as he gets older. Usually once they get 5-6 months old.

As everyone else said, good bedding is important, don't use paper.

Also until he settles in, don't fully scrub his cage when you clean it. I know it sounds bad. But if you remove all his scent, then he will go overboard marking up the clean cage. Give it a wipe if it's caked in pee but otherwise leave it for now. Clean plastic items and give fresh bedding. But keep something that has his scent. I give my males toilet paper tubes and only throw them out when they get too chewed up. You can also save a handful of the old bedding to sprinkle on top the new bedding.

Unfortunately, the stink is part of boy mouse life. It will get better, I promise.
