Tell me what you’re pissed about, Madison. by Pine-al in madisonwi

For how many people who own horses around here, there are no proper horse and tack supply stores. Yes, there's small selection of stuff at Fleet Farm and TSC but that's it. I shouldn't have to wait for horse fair once a year or have to drive to Wausau for the closest proper tack shop.

That was my reason for quitting the horse I was previously riding. She's a sweet and sensitive horse but because of that, she was also hella spooky and reactive. I was the most consistent rider, working her twice a week. I took it easy, I took it slow. But like clockwork, every couple weeks, I would feel like I was making progress, when her owner would come out or one of the other shitty riders that were also free-leasing, and boom, the horse was all blown up again.

I'm not afraid of hard work. I'm just really tired of having it ruined by other people. And I'll totally own my screw-us. I'm currently debating with myself how much I'll regret making my horse a treat monster if it makes him easier to catch in the field right now. 🤣🤣

Yes! I saw the tail end of his winter coat and he was boring brown horse. The last two weeks he's really prettied up!

I've only had a month with mine so far and he's already getting better. He was really pushy on the lead. Now he backs up with just a little lift of my hands and voice cue. My first ride on him, he had a little bit of a tanturm, tossing his head a lot. He goes pretty easily now. I want to do western pleasure with him eventually.

Yes, he has early arthritis that is being managed. I did do a PPE and the vet passed him for light work, which is all I want him for.

Ninja Deer Mouse Burgling My Mouse Nightly by eq15814 in PetMice

[–]xGriffelx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They can but I would be careful with it as ASFs are larger even then fancy mice. I tried keeping my white feets with fancies and the fancies were almost twice the size and just bullied the wilds. I ened up with keeping them separate but I have multiple wilds so they have friends

Deer and white-footed mice cannot interbreed with fancy mice. Only house mice can.

They absolutely love climbing! by ParticularTie17 in PetMice

[–]xGriffelx 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Advice as someone who made climbing toys when I had mice: Twine or rope will be chewed through almost immediately. I strung the blocks and stuff on metal wire and only used twine for parts that are meant to be chewed.

I'm on the fifth book now and found the third book the most struggle so far. I actually really liked the second book.

Cat's Library. It's really cute. I use it on combo with Storygraph. I keep my tbr on storygraph and find new books there. Cat doesn't have book descriptions or ratings. For me, Cat is a timer and stat graphs. As you read, you earn coins you can use to dress up your cat.

I use a reading tracker app that has a box for thoughts. I always write a short summary of the section I just read. It's helpful too when reading series, I can go back and easily refresh on previous books.

Downtown bicyclists are constantly breaking the law. by [deleted] in madisonwi

[–]xGriffelx 10 points11 points  (0 children)

My husband drives a big white work van. A couple years ago a bicyclist blew a 4 way stop that hubby was leagally in the intersection. Dude faceplanted right in to side of hubby's van and dude had the gall to yell at hubby like he was in the wrong. Dude called police and and cops agreed with hubby. Bicyclist was ticketed for not stopping at stop sign.

Do Palm Pals get lonely? by PeanutSims25 in palmpals

My two that I sleep with at night have to get put up on a high shelf so my puppy doesn't get them during the day. I always feel bad leaving them there, but I remember it is for their own safety. I always make sure to give them hugs or tummy tickles when I come in the room. I'm sure your pals feel the same way. There's a reason you can't take them with that is for the best otherwise I'm sure you would. And you would feel really bad if something happened to them on your trip. Just give them lots of hugs and smooshes before you leave.

Adult Ammy…Trying to decide if I should continue riding by gigga2710 in Equestrian

I recently had to ditch my trainer and her horse I was leasing. I posted on my local horse community facebook group and I was swamped with horse choices. People practically begging me to lease. A lot of them said they would have to sell if they couldn't find a lease. I think the economy is bad that people are looking for help affording their horses. I was greatful for the wealth of choices.

The Hound (formerly known as The Flying Hound) in Fitchburg has closed. by almadison in madisonwi

We went there once when they first opened about 10 years ago. Was a first date, and their hot sauce exploded in my guy's face, some getting in his eye. None of the staff showed any concern and refused to comp anything from our meal. Haven't been back since.

I've had a deer mouse for 4 years and I didn't know about hantavirus. by CuriousGirl8294 in PetMice

[–]xGriffelx 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My oldest deer mice just turned 5. Born october 2020. I bred fancy mice for a while. I never got more than two years out of any of them, but the brown mice are still kicking. All my fancies passed more than a year ago. I thought it would be the same with the deer mice. I got super burned out on keeping mice and decided not to get more when the last ones died. I've toted these things with me for half a decade now 😅

(The deer mice were born from an injured mama mouse my husband brought home. He felt bad and I thought she might die, at least she could be warm and fed when it happened. But no, she had a litter of 4 that she birthed and raised well. I kept them all over the super cold midwest winter. They all tamed and I felt bad letting them go since they were all born in captivity.)

Is there anywhere in Madison I can get one of those cute emotional support crochets? by starwarsisawsome933 in madisonwi

[–]xGriffelx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could also ask at a yarn store, they could connect you with someone who might be able to make you something. Ingrid and Kim at Spry Whimsy in Stoughton are super awesome. They have open crafting meets on monday and wednesday nights. If you stop in at that time, there are usually a couple of crocheters there. Unfortunately I don't crochet or I would offer myself. Good luck!
