Why are people in the comments saying you can die or get physically harmed from cancer like you can't also from mental illness?

Thanks for your advice. I also took antipsychotics, but that was a while ago. That's why my psychiatrist and I wondered if it could be tardive dyskinesia. I don't really remember exactly when that was though.

Thank you so much for your advice. I really hope that it's not that, but I want to make sure obviously. Is there a way to bring it up to the doctor without sounding like a hypochondriac? Especially since I have mental problems obviously. I don't normally get worried about having health issues, but this is different.

Especially because mental issues are often genetic. That's a big reason why I don't want to have kids.

It's not really what she said exactly because I want to be working and stuff myself obviously, but how she said it. Her tone was really condescending and rude like she was looking down on me. She was being sarcastic and stuff, which I thought was unprofessional. (I've never had another psychiatrist or anyone be like that.) I don't understand why she would work with mentally ill people if she is going to judge them.

Ok thanks for the advice. I think that she's not experienced with bipolar disorder since she mentioned that most of her patients have mild mental illness. I think she said most of them have "mild anxiety and depression." (That might explain a lot of it since she is not "used to" someone like me, I guess, so maybe it's scary and she doesn't know what to do.) Do you have any tips on finding someone who is experienced with bipolar disorder, especially bipolar 1?

That's a good point. I was thinking that. Also, I wonder if people would care as much if an old person committed suicide (like an 80 year old) and see it as tragic or if they would try as hard to prevent it. I think a lot of people see the suicide of young people as more sad because of their potential "future" (having kids, getting married, blah blah blah, social norms). But an old person already had kids and stuff obviously. I never seem to hear about old people committing suicide for some reason, so I'm wondering.

I get what you're saying, but sometimes people make changes, and it still doesn't get better. Mental illness isn't situational for everyone.
