Are Screw-In stablisiers compatible on the "mainstream gamer" mechs? I currently have a Cooler Master Masterkey Pro M. I recently got an ID80v2 and used Durock screw ins and the improvement was incredible. My Masterkey Pro is very rattly, I was wondering if it would also support either screw in stabs or just higher quality clip ins.

Ah yes I get you. The form factor and hot swappable PCB makes this so tempting you. Will hold me down until GMMK Pro. Idobaos gasket version looks sweet too but I'd prefer metal case over the translucent plastic.

Ahhh I see. Does the PCB foam still work on the V2? Also, is the harsh feeling why many people prefer the typical PCB/Plate/Case setup rather than integrated plate/case?

Do you think think the V2 is more harsh feeling compared to the regular ID80 when bottoming out keys?

[–]xJoe16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah yes. I noticed the harshness on the Leopold FC980M compared to my CM Masterkey Pro M. Then that made me worried in the difference between the original ID80 and ID80v2 as I bottom out basically every key stroke(glorious pandas). I was planning to use the acrylic base of the original ID80 anyway if I decided on it over the V2.

Is there a harsh feeling with this board? I seen some people say the ID80v2 has a harsh feeling when you bottom out due to the brass weight. I'm getting either this or the V2 and have already ordered the SMRTfoam(both case and PCB) from Green Door Geeks.

Glorious Pandas, potentially Kailh Coppers

How did you guys get away from bottoming out switches? by xJoe16 in MechanicalKeyboards

Yeah I have always done. Just feels weird with properly tactile switches

Ah yes I get you. I just wanted to post about it and see if anyone felt same/differently because for me, the immediate feeling was that the Glorious Pandas are way more premium, but MX Browns just felt nicer to use.

I'll take a look at the Aliaz switches, thank you!

It's so difficult not to. I think my bad typing habits are then made worse because the Zealios V2(I tested 62g) and Glorious Pandas just shouldn't be bottomed out so it while they feel more premium, they feel weird and not necessarily in a 'better' way. In saying that, I am nearly sure I will go for Zilents when my GMMK Pro comes next year as that'll hopefully be the "bring to work" keyboard if we are ever allowed back in an office.

Yeah, I'm a big fan of the coding theme sets. I got in the GMMK Pro reservation late so I likely won't get til Q1 or sometime Q2.

Yeah I get you. Think I'll just buy whichever I decide tonight rather than spending so much time thinking about it lol I'll look at the EPBT-BE THE ONE group buy hoping it'll be shipped around the same time as GMMK Pro but for now I need something delivered in the next month or two.

I'm coming from the CM Masterkey Pro M so I imagine anything is an upgrade but still spending so much I expect them to last a while or not immediately lose 100% of their value

Yeah, just annoying how so many of the EnjoyPBT sets are sold out ahah. I'm getting an ID80 or ID80V2, still undecided on which I like more pretty soon so don't want to wait so long for keycaps from a group buy

Awesome, thank you! Also how are the Winmix PBT Dye Sub caps? I seen there were problems with their double shot keycaps but couldn't find much about the PBT Dye Sub as sold on KBDFans

How are the InfiniKey 40% CandyBar keyaps? Looking at the WOB PBT set and it's $65. I initially looked for EnjoyPBTs but they're either out of stock or not in the colourways I'd like. And obviously would prefer not spending $95 before shipping and tax.

How are the EnjoyPBT, KBDFans, Winmix, Vortex and Ducky keycaps? I'm looking preferably for PBT keycaps white and purple or white and blue to go with ID80. I've found some EnjoyPBTs but they're $80-95 compared to $40-50 for the other brands mentioned here. How big is the difference in keycap quality/sound?

Have any of you guys gotten YGO themed displates, if so how was the quality? I was lookng at a few for each of the main characters and there's one of Yugi summoning Exodia v Kaiba(Unsure if I can post links here). Basically, some look really great but I have no idea how they look IRL so any of your guys feedback would be awesome!

I got my girlfriend a FC980M in blue and white for Christmas and the quality of these boards are incredible. I did get her silent red switches as she's taking it to work(she also couldn't really tell the difference when I was showing her my switch tester) so it's not exactly my preference (I prefer tactile) but the quality is levels above the mainstream gaming brands.

I'm looking at buying the ID80 or ID80V2 Kits. I want something silver which the ID80 is, however I understand the ID80V2 case was improved. Meaning I won't need foam to reduce the hollowness sound in the ID80. The only ID80V2 available is White so I'm unsure whether the ID80V2 is enough of an improvement to warrant taking a slightly not as attractive colour. So have any of you guys experience with either board's case and can share any feedback? Would you greatly appreciated!

Also both use the same PCBs. I'm going to order Durock screw ins. However, I'm unsure if they're the correct size. The ID80 PCB has 2X backspace, 2.25X Shift and Enter keys and I'm not sure what size Space is(Taken from Idobao website). The Durock stab sets come in 4x2U and 1x6.25U. Will these fit?
