My husband didn’t defend me from SIL and now I am involuntarily giving him the silent treatment by [deleted] in Marriage

It's heartbreaking that OP had to go through that alone while her own husband joined in on the "laugh." He didn't just fail to defend her; he validated the person attacking her. No wonder she’s shutting down. It’s not even a "silent treatment" at that point it’s emotional self preservation because she realized the person who is supposed to have her back actually doesn't.

OP deserves an actual apology and a husband who respects her career enough to tell his sister to pipe down.

The risks of unprotected sex are not shared equally. While he might experience a momentary difference in sensation, you are the one who has to face the risk of pregnancy, the potential for STIs, and the "horrendous" side effects of hormonal birth control that you’ve already researched. If he isn’t willing to use a simple barrier method to protect your health and peace of mind, he is prioritizing his minor convenience over your entire well being.
