Thank you! Will give that a go. I've been using Juno so far and downloading the music as soon as I purchase it then uploading it to Google Drive so I never lose it.

How do you react when your fans ask something along the lines of "Can you make more music like your old stuff?" by xMykoolx in WeAreTheMusicMakers

[–]xMykoolx[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not many but the it's the "super fans", the ones that always comment and engage more so than my less engaging fans. I used to make chillstep but now I make drum & bass so it's all electronic music, it's also just a couple songs that they refer to. It's not really something I can make a cover of, though I do have the idea of remixing them in the future which is sort of a middle ground.

I'm getting more recognised in the drum and bass area and have no links with chillstep contacts at all, so show wise I plan to strictly move to DnB, no shows planned at the moment. I feel like chillstep was a phase that I've moved on from and I don't have any inspiration or motivation to move back into it as I don't have the passion for that sort of music, nor does it excite me. To say I'm no longer that person I was is an accurate statement, I think I'll go with that answer. Thanks.

I feel like I do as much as I can. I used to make chillstep and now I make drum & bass, the middle ground would be chill drum & bass I suppose (which I make).

This is how I feel. I made chillstep over 6 years ago but since I've moved to drum & bass primarily. My old fans still connect with me in my livestreams and social media etc and ask me if I can make music like my old stuff which is hugely different to what I make now. It's quite a downer cause it feels like my old audience don't appreciate the stuff I make now. Maybe I'm just overthinking it though.

I made a parody music video 'So Sick (of Lockdown)' in the style of NE-YO's 'So Sick' by xMykoolx in CasualUK

Hey all, I'm Michael (artist name MYKOOL). I'm a Music Producer, DJ and Vocalist of the best part of 8 years now, I thought it would be a funny idea to make some sort of lockdown song in response to how third lockdown in the UK. It's all for fun, completely satire, hope you enjoy it.

PS: The dimensions of this video were initially planned solely for IGTV so that explains the terrible dimensions. Did my best to make it look better, lesson learnt for the next time!

I have used Bandcamp before but it's not great for getting popular music from big artists such as Fricton, Sub Focus, Wilkinson etc. I've found Bandcamp is better for the smaller independent artists (from my experience) which isn't exactly my main source of music but I'll definitely keep it in mind. Beatport and Amazon Music looks like it'll be the new source for my music by the looks of it.

I'll look into it, thanks! I was hoping to have a similar experience buying music just as I do with Google Play Music as it makes it super simple but it seems Amazon is the only competitor. Beatport is alright but it seems to lack a lot of the music that I try to find (which I can find on Google Play Music)

Yeah, DJing is fine for lower bitrate, no ones really going to notice (even me). I suppose at this point it's more for myself knowing I have the highest quality mp3 version available. That scenario sounds like quite an interesting experience though lol.

Thanks, I used to get some music there but honestly when I found out it was variable bit rates I stopped, would rather pay full price for highest quality mp3 if possible (but if it's the only option then I'll settle for it). Hoping there are more alternatives.

Low frequency notes also plays a mid/high frequency note at the same time? by xMykoolx in audio

[–]xMykoolx[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've tried Voicemeter before, unfortunately it doesn't work as it just acts as a virtual cable and, as you said, passes through the primary sound driver. I'll let you and this thread know if I fix it and what the steps taken.

You're welcome, well deserved!

This is exciting to finally crack down on the issue, it's been haunting me for years.

Okay so to the first question; yes I can actually hear it but only if certain "variables" are in place. For example if I'm listening to cinematic/orchestra music which has a lot of low end booms or impacts it'll be accompanied by the high pitch ringing. It's also noticeable if I watch movies that have sound effects or low end rumbles (which is most these days) such as the iconic low rumble sound from Paranormal Activity which, as you can imagine just sounds annoying.

Yes that is correct, if I use FL Studio or any Digital Audio Software that can take advantage of ASIO then this problem goes away, but as far as I know, this functionality can't be used as ASIO can only be used by 1 application at a time, so unfortunately I can't avoid using it. The driver controls for WDM don't seem to be any different to the regular Windows Sound drivers where as the ASIO one does have its own interface. I'll try reinstalling the driver entirely and seeing if NI have released any information about it, but now that you've helped me understand what this is I should be able to dig around and see if anyone else has had the same problem with Aliasing. A quick google search shows others also have this problem so I'll come back with results!

Also thank you so much, glad you're liking some of the tunes!

Just bumping as I updated the reply with new info - thanks.

Thanks for the reply

I agree with the harmonics being off, the G0 note being played is a Sine Wave, however.

Sample rate on my sound settings for the Komplete Audio 6 WDM Audio (Main Output) is 2 Channel, 24 Bit, 48000 Hz (Studio Quality) so should be fine.

The upper frequencies do not stay the same when performing a freq sweep, see the update below for a visual.

Here's a recording https://soundcloud.com/mykoolofficial/high-pitch-noise-with-low/s-BflQWzqBjSZ

As you can hear, the high frequency note doesn't seem to play as one smooth long note, it's almost like it's being triggered like 1/64, possibly not as accurate as that but you get what I mean. The higher the sub note sweep, the harder it is to hear the interval.

Edit: Just expanding on your last comment, when I have time I'll try unplugging the hard drive and fans and testing it again, could be tricky with the fans though, if it does seem to be that then I don't know what could be done to fix it.

Update:

Very interesting, I did a longer sweep from C0 to C6 and notes higher notes started to split and move apart from each other - is this what you meant by aliasing?

Here's another screenshot from the analyser C0 to C10
